removing a lift

Default removing a lift

I just bought a used silverado (2004 4x4) with a 7" CST lift on it. Apparently, in order to pass through maryland state inspection (to get my tags), i need to bring it down to stock. i do not have the stock parts however. I don't exactly know what all was involved in giving this truck the 7" lift, but could i get an estimate on how much it would cost to bring the truck back down (parts and labor)??? thanks all

you'd need to find out exactly how it was lifted before you can take it back down.

Do you plan to lift it back after you get the tags? If so, I would get rid of the truck before I pulled the lift. The lower front diff bracket has been cut off and thrown away. You would have to fing a bracket off of a wreck or soetning and weld it back, and it's not like it's the whole bracket, it's a bracket that's cut in half so you'd have to be real precise. If you have Auto track, the front driveshaft has been replaced, it may work at stock height, but I'm not sure. This is a very involved job. The least amount of work or money would be to try and get away with droping it as much as possible w/o puling the subframe. What I would do is get a set of Belltech lowering keys and drop the front as much as possible. You will probably be able to get 3-4" out of them, then pull your rear blocks. Put some stock rollers on it and pretend you know nothing. You may even need to pull the shocks if they bottom out. Good luck.
