Your S/C's are Powerdyne and the Wynjammer the Jammer actually seems like the better unit and is cheaper but what do you get maybe 100hp? still under 300hp. All turbos will custom and complicated read as exspensive. With both options you have fuel problems on '98+ at anything over 250-275hp your solutions are either a Edelbrock hybrid modified carb intake (looks like hell to me but it works) or a marine intake they both have tuning issues and are exspensive. Buy an LS2 crate motor for $5K and throw it in for a couple more and you got 400hp/400lbs in a lighter package. Then if you want work that and throw a Maggie on it later. You can do it cheaper if you use a pull out motor. I'm not saying it can't be done I just don't think it's worth the trouble and money for the return. I looked into the options I'm in almost the same boat as you and I've decided to go with a LSx prolly an LS2 with a T56. Ozrein 10-12-2006, 10:34 PM Check out MachPerformance for s/c and turbo kits for the 4.3L. I think I saw them getting some between 300 and 400hp with their kits. I'd have to check though since I havent been to their site in awhile. Their site if you're interested: http://www.machperformance.com/index.htm ufear3rdgear 10-17-2006, 02:11 PM Buy a total engine, Iron 6.0L, THEN boost it. Then buy tires...and NAWS...and some more tires. 03sierraslt 11-04-2006, 07:18 PM I used to check out machperformance when I had a s10, this was like 5-6yrs ago. I dont think they have changed there web site since. TIM Z 11-04-2006, 07:55 PM Call Billy At TRT TURBO, he can hook you up.Also look for HELLBENTS10, he can make the 4.3 run like a scalded dog!! firefighter 11-07-2006, 08:55 AM Here try watching this video I know the first motor is a 2.2L but the contrast will only be a little less drastic. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/wm/85dcfa69-fc7a-467c-955e-986100ee0444.htm I got this from the s10ls1ers thread in conversion hybrids section on the Tech. Ozrein 11-07-2006, 04:45 PM Dam, thats a bit of a change. I remember that guy brought his truck out to the Canadian SyTy Nats in Edmonton a couple years ago. The shot of it on the dyno with the 2.2 was at a shop in Edmonton. I think he put down around 180hp(?) to rear wheels with that s/c'd 2.2. I'm sure he's much happier with that 5.3 though. :) firefighter 11-07-2006, 09:13 PM w imagine instead of a 5.3L a worked LS1 or LS2. My plan is to have an LS2 based motor with about 500 fwhp or 400rwhp N/A. I'll keep my options open to maybe running a Maggie later on. Turbonoma 11-23-2006, 11:09 AM Here's my effort in trying to make a syclone copy. Been at it for a while. I'm entering the tuning stage now. Using TunerCat and MXScan. PEACE OUT>Tony Frito Bandito 11-28-2006, 09:44 PM I used to check Mach Performance's site when I had my 97 S10. They havent changed or update that site in a loooooooooong time. And good luck getting ahold of them................. Dogsofjune 11-28-2006, 11:43 PM Good luck getting anything from them. They never answer the phone. I don't know how he (Mach Performance) stay's in business. Honestly, going with a V8 will be the happiest solution, but if your are stubborn like some of us with the 4.3, you'll find some way to get some gains. |
