I was looking up the SS vs Titan, to see what kind of numbers I would come across, and found the forum of "Titantalk.com, the war stories" I read quite a bit of their stories. One thing that I found odd was, most of them where saying that they could walk away from the SS, keep in mind too, this was in May of 05'. The SS was an AWD with the LQ9. Some of you problably have already seen this site, but I thought I would share it with you all. Alot of the stories were about different things, for example: Titan beats a Hemi, or Ram vs Titan, SS vs Titan, SS won't mess with me anymore, etc. You get the point. Anyway, after reading alot of their stories, one of them stood out at me, and it was a stock vs stock, Titan beat an SS by 2 lenghts. Well, I thought to myself this couldn't be true, could it? So I scrolled to another topic called SS vs Titan, and there was a guy named SSjohathan introducing himself, and wanted to add some comments. The comments were, Yeah, this guy couldn't have beat an SS by 2 trucks, things like this. I didn't think it was true by the way, not stock for stock anyway. These were Titan guys letting him know that an SS is very fast, and could beat the Titan, but with the Titan, you get more for your buck. It was funny to me because once he was on the message board, they stopped talking smack about the SS. Now, I will be the first to admit, that the Titan is a fast truck as well as the Hemi's and Lightings, and I do like all nice, fast trucks. Most of you will say that the Titan is not fast, because of all the mods you have, like having superchargers. But if you only have a stock truck like me, and never had all the mods that some of you have, then yes, other trucks are competitve to what you have. Don't get me wrong, my SS is fast, but there's always someone faster. Anyway, by reading their stories, they were all pro Titans and that nothing else could beat them. This is why I like this site, because we all talk to each other about our mods, and yes on occasion, we will bash each other, but thats normal. The bottom line is that we stick together in here, and talk about different things and become friends. I'm sure there are other sites like them also, but I will stick with this one. Well, I'm done with my little story, and I just wanted to share it with you all. I know that Sobegraphics will know what i'm talking about. By the way, the SS will beat the Titan!! LOL :lol: Now I can't wait to build my motor.

I think the SS vs Titan is a great matchup, there was a video of one stock Titan vs another Titan with a CAI. Both were EC 4x4's and ran 14.9's, which is what stock SS's usually hit. You can't get much closer than that!

It's really simple if you think about it.No matter what people drive they will be a loyalist because they drive it simple as that.
The Titan guys say they win the Hemi says they do the chevy say they do etc etc.
If you want aa honest opinion from myself...i ahve been to the track several times.Most of it when i was completely stock or had just a cai and a diablo programmer on my truck.
Stock for stock i beat Titans every single time. I also have a friend who owns one.We have raced at least 6 times and not once did he ever beat me.Not for a dig roll anything.
Hemi stock for stock vs us we will lose.
You can get off your high horse we will lose.Yes we can mode very easy and roll them like no tomorrow but not in stock form.
Also alot of people will say of Bullshit i beat a stock hemi when i was stock.

I ran a stock SS back when I had my titan stock. He ran a 14.9, I ran a 15.1. And that's pretty consistent every time I've been to the track, the SS is faster, period. I think the titans that win must not have anything in the bed and a lone driver versus an SS with something in the back and a few people in it. But that's my experience with them.

I used to be a regular at Titan Talk, but I don't like some of the moderators there and some of the members talk smack without backing it up or even knowing what they're talking about.

As far as this forum goes, there is just as much brand loyalty (or more) than anywhere else I've been. But that's to be expected on a forum that has more than one brand on it.

There is a thread on how a 5.3 ho stayed halflength behind a titan.

Well I raced a titan from a roll and I will say that he was pulling ever so slightly on the top end. They must trap at or just a hair faster than an SS. It seemed I had more grunt down low which is probably from the slightly bigger engine and 4.10 gears. I ain't saying anything bad about a Titan because they are right there with us performance wise, just they don't have the aftermarket. :(

As a matter of fact Titans, Rams(hemi) and the GM's are so close it might just come down to the driver knowing where their truck performs best or wether they got a factory freak or not.

Like The Head mentioned I think the SS is faster in stock form but, with the two being that close it would just be a matter of who hit the gas faster. :judge:

i have been to the track several times and IMHO titans are quick but slow out of the whole. on the 1/8 i seen 5.3 take out titans but the titan is creeping up. ive seen alot of stock titans and my brother has a stock titan just flowmaster and he fastest 1/8 was 10.00 ive never seen nothin than 9.9 on a stock titan. :) but my brother knows not to mess with my lil 5.3 with a little help of a turbo :) :)

I would still think that a stock ecab 5.3 w/4.10's would be a good race from a dig for the titan.

You know, I raced my buddies old '06 QC 2wd Titan from a roll, and I was thoroughly surprised. I wanted a rematch because he caught me in the infamous "death zone" Where the truck doesn't kick down into first. I should have known better. He pulled me by about a length and a half before I gave up and admitted defeat at about 90mph. I still want a rematch, but that is impossible now. He traded his Titan for an '06 Jetta GLI. Badass little car by the way.

a regular cab is faster than an ss.... cuz i have a stock 5.3 rcsb (well it was stock) and i beat ss trucks and titans....so i guess it also depends on the driver ??

Haha, I had a Titan rev up at me yesterday, I wanted to run him bad but the little lady made me make my turn and let him go...damn that was hard.

Well since there are a few folks talking about titans I figured I'd chime in. Not sure where the other threads have gone in this section?

First a 2006 SS 4x2 xcab with a K&N ran a 14.9 the same night I ran 15.2. So I admit the SS did win.

I have a 04 CrewCab LE the biggest nearly heaviest Titan on the road 5360lbs me in it 1/8th tank gas. Stock in 90F heat I ran 15.8. Now I run 14.74...

To get there I had to:
1. drop in the big tow gear 3.36 from the 2.94
2. Volant CAI and Banks muffler.
3. TruTrac
4. wait for cooler weather
5. learn to drive

We do not have access to other gears that we can buy even with our rear being Dana....Dana Hybrid that is...However we do have a Detroit TruTrac finally.

We don't have plug and play programmers or more than one choice of superchargers or a single choice of turbo.

So to race in a Titan thinking to be the fastest "truck" is ludicrous. As there are faster trucks as anyone can see at the track on any given day. Right now when looking at dragtimes there’s only two trucks to break into the 13’s and about 6 in the 14’s. One of those 13’s was my Rocket Science teacher...he knows who he is…grin

I have posted a few times on this website and have received jabs from some Chevy owners however this I can deal with as a foreigner from Texas…LOL. Most I’m sure were thinking I was a troll or trying to start some crap. But hey for most of you the Titan is an off the beaten path entertaining subject but for me it’s all I got and I do like to see her improve herself as she matures.

If I can talk trucks and learn from others non Titan I’m all for it. I have actually met several of the Chevy guys at HRP and enjoyed our chats. I’ve seen some nice times from a “Farm” truck, a “V8” sleeper RC and an SS blazr “Storm”.

So lay into me if you want. Ask questions if you want. But whatever your decision is I still own a truck and mash the pedal just like you. Let the wheels spin.

ive raced 2 titans so far # 1 a cc 4wd and he beat me off the line but i almost completly caught up by 50 then proceded to pass him by about 90 i had a truck on him # 2 a xtra cab 2wd beat me off the line agin and never totally caught up to him but we ended at around 65 and i was at his door so they are really fast for STOCK trucks

so i'm on my way home and i pass up this new looking red chevy silverado SS. you know i gotta give him a hear of the banks as i pull a bit hard from a light. i watch in my mirrors and i see him pull from the crowd and creep up on my left. I'm see i'm getting a bite and i slow up a bit. I see the light ahead is red and i am making my left on it. damn i think he is going straight. bummer but then he pulls in behind me in the double left lane and switches over to the far left lane. We're side by side in the left turn lane. At this point i know i got a bite so i start "reeling" I know the area well so i give him a little pull but watch the traffic ahead so I can time so we're side by side at the next light which preceeds an awesome stretch of 3 lane road with almost no side streets for about a 1/4 mile. Good news boss hog good news! We line up at the light. Him on the left, me in the center, and guess who pulls up on the right... an older Dodge RC SS/T (the one with those double racing stripes) . The Dodge had a gauge pod so i was like WHOA! Perfect Storm kinda sh!t. I look left and i see the guy give me "the grin" his girl friend was laughing. I look right and the with the Dodge sees the guy in the SS give the grin and i yell, AHHHH YEAH IT'S ON!! I drop it in N and give it a yell and settle in 4 w/big tow on and wait for the light. I swear i think i got a lazy one. lol The light goes green and the SS got a lil launch on me but the T got a longer launch. I think it was the shift that got him because he spent the rest of the ride to 80 with his headlights at my shoulder. He pulled off at 80 and since it was night i turned on the inside lights on raise both arms in victory. What a rush. The dodge... didn't even go and pulled up at the next light. I asked what happened and he said "you crazy i wudda got dogged. Your sh!t has 50 hp more than me stock." I said "so what you shoulda gave it a go." He also said, "your sh!t sounds nice." Oh yeah beeeochs I'm on 24's!! ahh yeah!

Oh no sir no feelings hurt here...It's a good kill you had crap a kill is kill. Just pointing out the obvious mods issues. Things are changing though give it year or two more and I hope to have a street ponder in Titan form that I can race head to head run what you brung.

I wonder if STS would make a turbo kit for you Titan guys. The only thing would be fuel control I guess.

If you cannot tune it what is the use? Until someone makes a programmer not many companies will make parts for the T. You need to be able to control timing, A/f, shift point etc.

They made a kit for the Dodge trucks when there was no tuning options. They recommend a piggyback system for them, thought maybe it could work for you guys also.

I'm a good ways...i'm in Louisiana. Our HP is similar. I have about 40 more lbs of Tq than you do and a 5 speed. I figure you are showing estimated flwheel Hp numbers? You have a little more gear tha I do. I'm probably a low 14 second truck right now if i can hook her up! How is that limited slip on the SS 2wd? It would be a good race!

Limited slip is ok I guess, but in my option, the SS should have 4:10 2wd. It launch's hard. Especially after my tune. How did you get your dyno numbers with just those mods? Don't the Titans only have 305 flywheel hp? If your rwhp is 315, then thats about an 80 hp increase. Most guys with your mods are running low 15's with a QC. My truck runs a 14.9 stock with 20's on it. I wish they would have come with 17' or 18's, then we'd be low 14's stock. I haven't been at the track yet with my new tune and other mods.

Oh so you have 3.73 and not 4.10 ...I figured you had 4.10. Well Nissan must have really underated this 5.6. With intake and exhaust only she dyno'ed 280/331 at the rear wheels stock they dyno 256-260hp/310TQ that thats a little more than a stock HEMI and way more TQ and they are rated at 345hp to the flywheel. I would have to guess the Titan is really 320hp/400TQ at the flywheel either that or our tranny is really efficent. I have 20's on my truck all of the time I have not made it to the track since my tune. With G-tec i'm doing 0-60's avg of 5.9 and 14.5's in the 1/4 thats with a full tank of gas tools, tailgate, spare, subwoofer box and ect.... I just put the 17's on to make a cool burn out video. I just need practice launching after the tune. If I can get a good WOT launch with out the extra weight I see 14.2 with my current config. I just ordered some PRG traction bars and I will change from a 3.73 rear to a 4.10. My 450lbs of TQ is what makes my truck go...TQ gets these big boats moving!

How much do traction bars help? Have any luck with them?

Here is a dyno after Headers and the tune vs only intake and exhaust. I gained 40rwHP and 50rwTq in some parts of the powerband! Dyno was with 20's and heavy 295/50 rubber!

Yeah, only a freak'n 3:73. I talk to one of the people at GM, and asked them why, he said because of driviblity. This is how we get such good gas milage on the freeway I guess. Take the Hemi for example: They put the 3:92 axle to make up the diff. for the 20's, why can't GM do this. They have 4:10 ratio's, but only for HD's or AWD. The whole market these days are about fuel economy. I think the Titans are unrated too. They have to have more hp than they say they do, but you guys do have deeper gears in the tranny. I haven't had my truck dyno'd yet, but my buddy has, and it was bone stock with 272 rwhp and 304 rwtq. I think you guys have more tq because of your trannys.
