The KN Series 77 cold air intake on my 02 4.6 F-150 makes a really loud drumming sound on deceleration, and off and on at idle. What could be causing this?? All my connections are tight and the noise is about to drive me crazy so please help.

does this unit bolt to the heat shield or does the tube just go thru it? have you removed it and put a stock one on it to see if it goes away?

did you find the noise?
Was it always making this noise and just recently started happening? Or was it as soon as you installed the intake?
What other mods you have?

I was wondering why you asked him if it bolted to the heat shield or if it just went through it. I recently installed a K&N on my truck and mine does not bolt to it.

if it bolted to the shield thgen there is a seal there. if it goes thru it then there isnt.

Well yeah thats pretty obvious, I was just wondering if there was some sort of recall or something on ones that werent bolted directly to the heat shield. We have a bunch of trucks and I have put atleast 10 of these K&N kits on our trucks and every single one bolts to the heat shield except this one for my 07 f150.
