Sorry for the cross-link, but people from multiple forums typically attend this event, and since there is a group registration and frequent room sharing I figured I'd point everyone to a common thread:
What kind of group registration? Just for Dakotas? For showing? Is there racing?

It is definately NOT just for Dakotas. The Chevies will outnumber the Dodges by about 5 to 1 like always.
I'm not positive what Steve has going on for group registration. But in the past he got a whole bunch of us in for much cheaper by pre-registering.
The event has Drag Racing, Bikini Contests, Show & Shine, Monster Trucks, Rock Crawling, Vendor's Row Midway, More Scenery :eek2: Burnout Contests, and the dealers bring brand new trucks out and let you drive them on a little obstacle course. Did I mention the SCENERY? hehehe If it has anything to do with trucks - they probably have it out there that weekend.

Chris, you went last year.....you don't remember where we held hands for the first time? :gay:
It's not the Truckin' Nats this year either. It's the Tire Pro's Truck Nationals. I feel it's kind of been dwindling the past couple years and I hope the Tire Pro's (whoever they are) manage to turn it around like it was 5-6 years ago. I won't be going, as I've decided to go the Goodguys show instead. Besides it'd be useless for me to run my truck without slicks and on 7 cylinders. :(

Turns out I will be going this weekend. And yes Todd, I remember more than the hand holding :wink wink:
duner - where are you guys gonna be set up?

We'll be somewhere close to the staging lanes. The track manages to move us to a different pit spot every year so there's no telling where we'll actually get to park. LAST year they had those damned Jr. Dragsters there and let them get all the best pit space. Hopefully they aren't invited this year.

Not worth the $$ IMO. I don't think I'll be going again.

That's too bad. :( I'll be heading up to the Goodguys at Westworld next month, and that better be worth it!

I did OK. I was trying to dial-in my new boost controller and had mixed results. The truck was running really good - but I still had trouble launching it correctly. On saturday I went too quick for my safety equipment and they told me I was outta there. Here's a vid of my getting spanked by a REAL race truck.
They let me come back on sunday with the understanding that I would be sure and NOT go quicker than my safety equipment ET rating (rollbar required). I still had trouble slowing the truck down - so I'd just jump on the brakes at the 1000' mark and run 11.60s at like 80 mph. LOL For the bracket racing I ran the Sportsman division and dialed-in at 11.60. :) I won the first round but redlighted it away in the 2nd round. I need to race more often!

I purchased some hi-res pics from the race and was VERY happy with the outcome. Those pro-photographers know exactly what shot you're looking for and how to get it.

Ambient was in the high 80s.
I didn't even check the IATs!
I know they were WAY down there - 60 to 70 degree range.
I don't have any sort of data logging installed. Checking IATs on my truck requires a scanner plugged into the diagnostic port and it's live feedback. In the past that required either myself or a passenger to watch the numbers. I was busy enough playing with the boost controller.

I assume that means you didn't get in with one of the group registrations? 2 days of drag racing, 1 t-shirt, 1 dash plaque, 1 weekend guest pass for $35. If you can't find value in that, you need to rip all those bolt-ons out of your truck and go buy a yugo.

Darned forum software that only shows you going-forward posts within a thread to respond to, completely didn't see your note mentioning you were only spectating before I posted that. Spending the ~$35 they charge to spectate vs. the $35 they charge to participate makes all the difference in the world. You should come on out and race when they hold the event again in April!

I spend $20 at my shitty local track to sit in line for 5 hours and only get 3 runs in one night and be the only truck. $35 to play with other trucks and bracket race is definatley a deal. Do you think you Dakota guys would let some Silvy's and Sierra's get in on your group rate next year?
