im considering buyin a R/T soon. looking to spend 10-11k max. i was wondering... how long does it take until the tranny starts effin up? ive heard they have really shitty trannys? also, is this a good realiable truck past 100k as long as it was taken care of? what base hp do they come with to the wheels? anything else you want to add would be appreciated!

i just talked to my brother in law, who is pretty well versed in the r/ts, and he said his supercharged r/t(about 350hp) lasted past 50k before it started slipping, and he beat the crap out of it......i guess the clutches are the weak link, if you get those beefed up before it starts slipping then they last longer.....

he also said that the other problem higher mileage r/ts have is worn ball joints...

welllll mine has 85k on it and i drive it like i stole it lol. it is pretty damn dependable. stock 3.92 gear 46re trans aint the strongest but mine is still buckin pretty damn good. base HP lol f'in weak 250 torq 350 :) mid 15's stock in a CC in a reg cab with a good launce you can nail a low 15. you gotta throw money at these to make them fast i mean shit they are a pickup not a Camaro or Mustang, wich is why it's so cool to smoke them. http://forums.delphiforums.com/dakotart/start those guys know any and everything about these trucks. there are numerous blower and 408 stroked truck runnin 12 and 11's more than one runnin 10's. like i said you wanna go fast you better have some dough if you got any more questions i can answer about any thing you have

for an idea on wha modding one costs... www.socaldakota.com this is new of corse. the best way is to shop around and find used stuff, thats wha im doin cause my pockets aint that deep. and yea ball joints not good, best to go on and drop a new set in, avoid problems down the road. oh and if you where worried about gas mileage, run. :) my truck got about 13 on average. the overhead computer is cool lol.
