I went to a dyno day @ DTM Motorsports this morning and got a few runs on their Mustang Dyno. All the guys at this shop were happy to help.
I dont have a scanner, so until Nick emails me my graph, you will just have to take my word for the numbers.
256rwhp @ 5000rpm. Thats where he let off- the graph is still climbing.
298rwtq @ 3700rpm. The curve is nice and flat.
This is with a 2004 5.3 auto; shorties; Magnaflow catback with a extra muffler; LS1 fans; stock airbox/filter; 40,000mi, stock plugs. EFIlive Tune.
22" Centerlines w/ 265/40/22 Toyo's.
Runs were done with the AC on as I wanted to know what I am dealing with while driving.
This is a little better than I expected.
Now I need to swap cams and see what that does.

Nice numbers. Those numbers, however, only tell part of the story - they belie how powerful your truck feels when driven.
I think the cam will elevate your HP/TQ curves 12-15 over the entire range. I predict that you will be pleased with the results, especially low-end.
When is the install scheduled?

It feels quite a bit different from when you drove it. I ditched the Volant and went back to a stock airbox. Lo and behold, I have throttle response and lowend torque.
I was surprised with the 256 only because it was a Mustang, and ambient temp was over 90*.
I havent figured out a schedule yet. Hopefully before the end of August I will get a chance to do the work.
I am hoping for +30 peak and +15 all over.
Either way with the tune somewhat sorted, I enjoy driving again.
Now if I could finish the important project...

Even if you had your ac on,stock it is set at 100% TPS,once you go WOT the ac compressor kicks off,you will see that if you look in EFI live
Good numbers man

True. However, the runs with AC were steadily rolling on the throttle, not mashing the pedal.
All my little side projects are wrapping up, or should I say, money is becoming available to finish everything :) Had to chill out for a little while and concentrate on some domestic/house items.

Ah, pitching and rolling....gotcha.
Six years and three sea service medals were more than enough for me. :judge:

Yeah we were all surprised to see how well it ran!! You actually put down more torque than the SS camaro that came in the same day :eek2: The SS was bone stock but still, that's pretty impressive

Hey if you dont mine me asking, im trying to tune my 5.3 with just exhast.
Im using efi live, but since I dont have a dyno im just basing my timing off the optimal timing table, by using a blend of about half stock timing and half optimal with stock fuel correction timing.
I can't really decide for myself what the best timing is. It just feels diffrent everyday. It also likes to knock with anything below 93 octane, which I think is just the high IAT's.
Since your torque looks so good just wondering what kind of timing, and what octane you run normaly.

Most times the average stock cam 5.3 will pull to about 5600 rpms then drop off slowly.
I shift my stock cam 5.3 at 6100rpms...
