My buddy has a Ford 2002 crew cab long bed dually with the turbo diesel in it. And he wants to race my truck. He has some minda computer mod, cold air, and turbo back exhaust. Whats the best with those mods it would run in the quarter??? Just trying to fingure out how many spots to ask for to make it minda fare...

I would guess it might run around a 16.0 without more mods than you listed. However it really depends on what program he has in the computer. Some programs might get it to mid 15's, but a mild chip wouldn't be that quick. There are some of these heavy trucks running much faster, but most have a built trans, big oil (twin hpop's), or injectors to get there.

Diesels with programmers and exhuast in my area run mid 15s to mid 14s.

My old 95 TD ran 15.30's with turbo-back exh. and a programmer chip on a switch. This was done buy a guy who knew what he was doing and it still caused problems in the long run(burned the ECM). It was not a dually though. I wouldn't expect much more, but diesels are different than gas engines and they can respond bigtime with the aggressive setups. If you see it pouring smoke to a point you can't see the road... It's possibly well into the 14's if not quicker. I saw a guy with an F-450 CC/duallie/4X4 at the track once... That one was on at least 44's and had a large box in the bed. Whatever was done, it ran 14.02 at like 103mph. I was impressed.

Is it a 4x4? Auto? If those are the only mods he has, 16's at BEST. That truck is just too heavy, the 7.3's need some major $$$$ to go fast. The stock HPOP can't keep up with a hot program, and the stock AD injectors just won't flow enough to make a whole lot of power, and the stock turbo runs out of steam pretty quick too. Run him and let us know how you do!

He has all the basics on his 7.3, plus upgraded injectors, turbo, tranny, and a bunch of nitrous. It's a 12-second truck on 37's!

I dont think im gonna race him now, i was told his truck runs low 13's, i was gonna ask for 8 and the hit, but that just aint gonna make up for it.

He has ALOT more mods then he is telling you then. Things like, a BUILT engine, BIG injectors, BIG turbo, BIG $$$ tranny, and maybe some BIG nitrous to boot! That thing is making well over 600 rwhp I bet! I say still run him though, just for fun at least. If your set out 8, figure that's about 8 tenths, then add the hit for another 5 tenths, you might still have a good race for him if he really runs low 13's.

so u think my 16.8 truck will still have a lil chance with those odds?

Ouch, 16.8 huh?! Well then, IF he is running what he says he is then no, I guess not. BUT, there are VERY few people making this kind of power out of that '02 7.3 diesel. This is just my opinion, but I would think with the money it costs him to do what he says, you would know if he was one of them. So I still say take the hit with 8 and see what happens, you and him might be surprised!

he has a 6.0, says all he has is a 4 inch turbo back. Im geussing he has some type of tuner. One thing odd is he doesnt even have a cold air of any sort, i got to peek under his hood. But i really dont know what to look for when it comes to deisels. What should i be looking for??? But ya i run a 16.8 with a K&N cold air, Magnaflow catback, and a diablo programmer. So something aint right with my truck, either that or i didnt do something right with the programmer. Dont know.

Now were talking a whole different animal. There was no 6.0 in 2002, it's at least a 2003. And unfortunately the 6.0's can be nasty with just the programmer and exhaust. The factory intake is actually really good so it's a non issue. Now that truck can very well be in the 13's, sorry. You might want to gracefully back down or just run for fun!
