View Full Version : TQ management question (TBSS) TchargedLS1TA 07-04-2006, 01:55 PM What are you tuner guys doing with the TQ management? Im worried about maxing it out due to severe tranny failure, but Im also losing about 10* of timing and 50 hp due to it.. mwalls54 07-04-2006, 09:48 PM have you done anything to the tranny?? BlackGMC 07-04-2006, 10:21 PM So to get on a side track but do the TBSS come with a 60 or 80 transmision? storm5.3 07-05-2006, 12:59 AM I think it's a 4L70E, but don't qoute me on that... TchargedLS1TA 07-05-2006, 10:32 AM We have the 4L70E... Nothing is done to my tranny yet, but I may get a new valvebody if needed.. GTPprix 07-05-2006, 02:42 PM If you are AWD you'll need alot more than a valvebody.. if it's 2WD you'll be in the clear ;) 1slow01Z71 07-05-2006, 06:25 PM If you are AWD you'll need alot more than a valvebody.. if it's 2WD you'll be in the clear ;) UNtil you get on slicks:jest: non sponsor info. mwalls54 07-05-2006, 07:39 PM i would look into a shift kit and corvette servos to start with. TonyGXP 07-06-2006, 12:56 AM I have it all removed, my friend has a Wester's Tune (like me) and all removed and has no problems, 2k+mi and counting..I think that Torque management is blown out of porportion.. I didn't notice a "ridiculous" difference..more mods it's going back in (50% or so), unless I go to the track and it gets Stupid  fast..heck maybe i'll run it with all and none and we'll see the difference? GTPprix 07-06-2006, 10:13 AM Servos and a shift kit arent going to fix the fact that the 2-4 band and apply pin take the brunt of the 1-2 upshift on the AWD models. Anyone completely removing TM on an AWD might as well just buy a few spare transmissions ;) Between that and the sprag breaking (even on stock trucks!) on the AWD it's pretty much a necessity. At least on the 2WD the tires can take the hit rather than the trans. Evil F1 SS 07-08-2006, 08:24 PM when it blows up build a better trans......... People spend 10-20k in mods and complain about a trans rebuild that costs 2-3k w/ converter. Its just silly. If your worried about breaking it than you have no business modding it. Trust me, when you fix one wink link you will find another shortly..... Its a vichious cycle.... But its at least a fast one....... |
