well i got 289rwhp. there machine was kinda screwed i guess because they lost power so rwtq didn't show up. so i don't know it. i'm not too happy. last time i checked stock ls1's made over 300 at the rar wheel in the f bodies. so what give? afr was at 12.2 flat from 4000rpm to 6300 rpm in third gear. timming was at 29* from 2000 to 4000rpm where it droped to 28* then at 5200 it went back up to 29*. hp curve was very clean nice even curve no dips or anything. the curve was better than the 350z that was there. but only made 47 more hp than the stock 350z did. this was with tc locked also. thee printer was also screwed up so he is going to e-mail me the graph.

a camaro doesnt have 4wd either, youve got at least 10 more hp by leaning it out to 13:1
What exhaust setup do you have?
TURBHOE
07-01-2006, 06:30 PM
well here is the deal i couldn't get it to lean out my pe is all the way down to 1.010 and my ve is at 95 from 100 and i took my high part of my maf table down by 15. and still a hard core 12.2:1
my exhaust is stock manifold and y pipe to a 4" pipe with 4" magnaflow. before any body start in on this we put the exhaust on because my turbo is to be installed and and i didn't want to do an exhaust twice. besides that it won't be "too big" when its on the dyno any way.

With an exhaust that big I don't see why you are so disappointed because that probably cost you quite a bit of power...

Your 4x4,longer driveline. heavier tires, slightly larger rear diff. is why.
I dont think many A4 camaros dyno over 300 either. Had a friend with full exhaust(headers back) with a lid and smooth belows dynoed 321rwhp unlocked. Plus your loosing some in your tune. Overall, not really that bad a number at all.

where did you go?

just seems like i should get alot more with the cam and all. this motor has a good amount of piston slap too. riddle me this i done a compression test here awhile back and all hit 195-200 but two number 1 & 3 they hit 165-170. and when i pulled the spark plugs on those two they had oil on the threads. so i guess this helps me wonder if its actually running to its full potential. oh and 2*'s of timmin bumped me up 18rwhp and 2 more dropped me back down 15 rwhp lol. so of course i droped it back down two. oh and we went to ned in westbrook.

You can't expect F-body horsepower with such a heavy, large driveline. Even with your mods bringing you close to that power, it's just not an F-body and many things are different about a truck. It seems like you did your dyno in 3rd gear by the 1st post. I hope that's not the case. Personally, the only thing I would guess the 4" exhaust is hurting is peoples ears. :D
The plugs with oil on them isn't a good sign. Your compression may be higher there because the oil is helping to build pressure. At some point, things will give and you may have a real problem. Anyway, it may be time to re-ring it.

yeah the exhaust use to be loud until the magnaflow muffler but it still isn't exactly quiet at wot. lol i think i need to sell my 4.8 so i can buy some pistons and rings.
it kinda sucks i guess because snake eater had this cam in his silverado and went afull second faster and had a 5.3l. and so i get to here how his 5.3 was faster than my ls1. but he did have a mild head job and shorties also....

Nothin' wrong with a mild head job in my book. Of course it does depend on where you got it :D

I would bet you money that you will pick up between 35-50 rwhp with the right set of headers I dynod 277 with stock exhaust and flowmaster muffler after my h/c swap. When I redid the exhaust it was like night and day, yours is the same.
Ive dealt with that issue on the tuning, the best thing to do is to put the stock Ve table in and retune in SD. Then reenable the maf and your numbers will line up. Make sure to reset trims everytime you change and the ve or maf tables. Also do you have any lt trims at wot currently?

well i plan on turbo so no since in headers i think i need to hurry up and get it on there. i bet that would make a night and day diffrence lol. well i just so happen to have 14 on the ltft wtf. i guess i'll reset that.

Stock LS1 F-bods dyno between 280-315rwhp as a norm with few being higher or lower. Not counting SLP/ASCD optioned cars.

well i got it to lean out finally i reset the fuels trims and put a stock 6.0 maf table and set the pe to 1.131 and it was dead on 890mv. it didn't feel like a dog on the 2-3 shift either. just kept pulling. felt alot stronger for sure. i guess i just need to get the turbo on.

With my old setup (98' LS1 w/ TR220) I dyno'd almost exactly the same. I sure LTs would have bumped those numbers up by a decent amount.

just my 2cents, I am with o2, and I see that is working for ya, but I wouldn't go any FI route until you are 100% happy with that motor. Oil on the plugs isn't good. No reason to go through a shit load of work to have to go back in there. I bet you have 300 now with the cleaning of the ve table and ESPECIALLY the MAF.

i'm gonna check the valve seals out and all. i haven't checked the plugs lately. i might try that to and do another compression check. and maybe a leak down i guess.

Your 1/4 numbers seem to show you are not making good power either. I went 15.1 with just a Nelson tune, dual exhaust, ebay intake and a TCI 3K stall. You have more cubes, less miles and a cam on me so...
TURBHOE
07-04-2006, 01:05 PM
i don't know how many miles are on this eng. i'm guessing it was a dealer pull out because of all the piston slap it has. video (http://videos.streetfire.net/video/4b4b420c-9127-4aad-884d-6012da8a2e9b.htm) how much of your dual exhaust was stock. mine may not be breathing as well as it needs to be with stock 4.8 y pipe and manifolds. and i need to redo my home made intake. i think it is sufficating it.

I don't mean to hijack but is 235 rwhp and 297rwtq good numbers for a stock lq4 6.0 with headers and a 4l80e and the converter was unlocked if it makes a differance.

going back to the dyno next week. the last time i went the dyno was messed up and didn't give tq readings only hp and the printer was messed up so i couldn't get a print out. so i'm goin back next week for a free run to get my base numbers before the turbo install. i goot the pe fuel figured out since the last time so hopefully i'll get some better numbers this time. but i'm back to the stock air tube because of the intercooler being in the way of my intake i had on there. should i maybe plop the maf straight to the throttle body and run no filter or see what it does with stock airtube and box?

well i talked to the guy that ran the dyno he other day. just happen to see him at a car audio shop he works at now. he said after i left the dyno there was a bunch of tire dust under the roller. he said i was spinning out on the dyno. he figures they didn't get my rear end down good enough. not that it matters now lol. being that my silverado is no more.
