Well here is the cam, a 224/224 114lsa .578" +0
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y31/trever1t/2005%20Z71/224Cam.jpg

And here is the same cam +4 degrees.

Looks like aI lost a bit off the top and only gained a peak 5tq but it looks like a gain of 10+ torque in the low end. I didn't get to stomp on it too much (pouring rain and traffic) but it felt stronger by SOTP. :)

Could i get better results with another cam?

Let me add that Synergy Motorsports did the work, advancing the cam and re-tuning at no charge!

i figured you would get better results.

Me too but these graphs are like squished :bang: .....BUT I am now making over 300 ft lbs from 3300-5700 or so and before i was 3800-5800? That's a little better in the usable area with my TT3000?

What more can i do?

i would quit worying about the dyno numbers and get it on the track to see the gains :drive:

Yeah, looks like you're doing better overall than before. I'm surprised you didn't gain any more torque over the stock cam than you did...

Looks better and since you didnt have to pay for anything I'd say it was defiantely worth it. Rick is the man :)

What it comes down to is you are making a lot more power in the usuable powerband fro 1/4mile so you are defiantely going to be much faster than you were with the stock cam. Like I was saying before I think you will be where you should be MPH wise once the weight thing is taken care of ;)

Besides, you're not going to be truely happy till you have blower TQ lol

Justin, Do you mean I am??? :)

Yeah, I need a blower, but it looks like it might be a while before the $$ comes in for it.
We'll see how i do the next sunny Weds that comes up! I cant think of anything else (except lose weight) that will help, can you?

if you do a compression test on the stock cam and any aftermarket cam, you will see you have the potential to loose TQ because of the compression tests in the cylinder. I gained 15psi by advancing 4 degrees from this cam.

So is it just too much cam for the application? What does a stock cam show with a compression test in his 5.3HO?

Justin, Do you mean I am??? :)

Yeah, bad typo lol

You are totally making more power in the usable powerband for 1/4mile racing since you're only below 4k rpm for a short time when racing anyway and you are still making more TQ than with the stock cam or at least within 5-10rwtq or so on the bottom end under 4k but at 6k rpm you are still at 285rwtq where with the stock cam you had dropped below 250rwtq. At 6k rpm you are at 339rwhp vs 280rwhp on the stock cam. So to me its much better for racing or passing folks on the freeway lol.

Im hoping I can be there when you race next time and maybe ride in the truck. I want to video your launch RPM and all the shift points and we can work on stuff from there. If the converter is not flashing where it should be that can also be a problem soooo we know you have good HP regardless of how you look at it. I mean you're making better power than I ever did cam only so now we just have to ensure everything else is working right. Not much we can do about the weight thing except correct for it :)

Well almost. :eyes:
At 6K = 325rwhp with the advance but everything else makes sense!
Yeah, I think that would be great if you would make it to the track, I'll even let you take it for a spin :judge:

Going camping next month on the bike so this sh$t better end quick!

The first dyno represents stock cam vs. the 224 profile, correct?
And you didn't make more power with the 224 cam until 4800-4900 RPM?
Something, whether it be the dyno or your tune was not right from the get-go. You should match TQ by at least 3500 RPM with the 224 cam.... AT LEAST.

... Maybe I'm wrong... Just some odd results in my book.

Could the torque converter have anything to do with that?

Using photoshop I superimposed the graphs. Does that help?

how did they advance the cam? did they use a adjustable timing set or jump teeth on the stock gears??
