Nice TBSS, looks good in blue. You are a very pretty lady as well. What is the "technical" color name for it? Also FYI you might want to check out the thread called "Eeek..." in the nitrous section a guy reported that his TBSS didnt like the spray for some reason you may want to PM him to find out any further details and if he got it all ironed out;)

Well if you like men, thats your own deal. Make a pass at Brad, you never know what might happen  You might get what you are looking for.

I post on this board under this screen name, 99.9% of the time and always in this post. Brad may have posted under this name at some point, might not have realized who was logged in. I am not sure though.

???? my truck hooks all the time...granted it's stock, but I run 2.0's consistently, think that rear suspension is a big help..AWD under alot of stress isn't gonna hold up over time..Think that's why GM put so much Torque Managment in the ECM/TCM..

TchargedLS1TA
05-17-2006, 11:41 PM
I cant get mine to hook for shit.. Well, only from a dead roll, but its a pig, 13.9 stock its best with a 1.8 60ft. With the nitrous turned on, even from a dead stop, once I hit the 60 ft, it goes nuts and I have to pedal it to half track..

If it goes 12.4 with the 100 shot, I know we will be very happy. Isn't the fastest TBSS right now 12.14 or so? If not, what is the fastest TBSS so far?

The truck will be tuned also before the 200 shot is added. We just got our tuning software today.

Anyone know if they have a walboro pump for these truck yet?

Best was 12.61 with a 1.69 60' 42 degree day and great air -1500da.

The truck runs consistent 12.8-9 with 1.8 60's

If I spin the truck run anywhere from a 13.0-up

I had a 2.4 60' last time out an ran a 14.2 @ 103
ran 3 12's that day too.

I only had the nos on the truck 1 time at the track kinda wanted a idea
what the truck would run with and extra 75 hp!!

I have cnc heads, cam, and a set of headers.

TchargedLS1TA

-1500 DA?! Damn, thats almost like cheating.. Come down here to TX where you'll get a DA of about 2100 at best..
Supposedly the fastest ran like an 11.5, but again, all talk, no slips..
We just dyno'd mine last night with the new heads.. 434hp 392tq with a CF of 1.02
75 wet shot, Stage 3 PP heads, untuned. Cam goes is this weekend, than a tune Sunday and 500 HP, here I come...

I was on a GrandPrix GXP forum and while discussing the SS with my "old friends" someone chimed in that they saw an UGLY SS run low 12's & an 11sec run, he couldn't remember what the 11 was, but it was the same night, same track that that guy supposedly ran, I pm'd him to post his slip and he said he couldn't get it on the net, he has it and he didn't car who believed him, that the more people who see him run he wouldn't need to bother...I tend to believe he ran that..he does have a Cam, Tune, huge shot of N2o & AWD, so I don't see why he couldn't pull that..that crazy bastard sprays itout of the HOLE!!!

LOL I've ran the SS in 2600da 85% humidty and ran 12.93-13.09 consistent.

My 98 formula with 98 ported heads x1 cam 90/90 fast on 16 inch wheels goes 11.3-5 about 420 hp

TchargedLS1TA

L92 is the 6.2L engine in the newer Escalades.. Similar to the LS7, but smaller..
Pedro- I dont think the L92 would do a stock motor any good. i think the smallest bore you go with those heads is 4.060"

I'm going with a set of LS2 heads that have been CNC.

Very good flow numbers

.550 in 315 ex 224
.600 318 228

with the right cam I'd expect 75-90 hp gain! With the heads and cam.

The L92 heads are for a 4.000" bore. Even though the L92 itself is 4.100"

Reasoning is that its smaller cousin, GenIV 6.0L which i dont know the RPO code for also uses those heads. So GM designed the L92 heads 0.100" smaller so they can use the same casting for both.

Well decided to go ahead and build a different / better engine for the TBSS.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c345/strippermotorsports/9063836e.jpg

It now has forged internals, a pretty good sized cam (thats what i've been told) and some tuning. Hopefully its all worth it.

How about with less than 2200 miles on it :)

It took a crap on me the first time I sprayed it with a 100 shot (wet shot), and it had TR6 plugs in it to. We planed on doing a engine for it, just not this soon.

At that time, no one was tuning it. We have had mutiple cars that run a 150 wet shot with no tuning done to them with no problems. We weren't so lucky here.

Now, we have a new engine, tuning and a 200 shot :)

Hell, my 75 shot untuned was always raced with at least 5 gallons of race gas to 5 gallons of 93.. I just dont take that chance with nitrous, especially on this engines where tolerances are too tight to make mistakes..

On the tbss we were running only a 100 shot, with the stock tune and colder plugs, TR6's.

On my previous cars, LS1 trans am, 4.6 mustang, I had run up to a 150 wet shot without retarding timing with no problems what so ever.

You caught us searching Jelly on here, wow you are hard nosed internet cop. I didn't know we couldn't search for a name of someone we know on here???
You know while were at it, maybe we can start talking about your company and your boss (or partner) not sure which and don't really care. Where is that going to leave us when all is said and done? You have never dealt with our company, so don't start trying to shed bad light on it. On the other hand Brad has delt with the company that you work for (vector) and can speak first hand on it if he wanted to. Thats not what we do though, we do not go ahead and try and tarnish a company for nothing more than a hot topic to discuss. If and when you should ever have a problem with Stripper Motorsports, please feel free to speak first hand about that problem. I know the easy thing for you to say here is, "I would never buy from your company" well that would be great if we never had to sell anything to you.
If that being said if you have anything you would like to discuss, contact Brad and I am sure he would be more than happy to meet with you and talk about what concern you may have with our company.

Just to get it straight, I was not mentioning anything bad about Vector, I was just trying to express that I could come on this board and start attack them with no just cause. As I said in my previous post though, we do not believe i doing that. It doesn't do anything but make you look bad.

Thanks for the kind words on the engine. The new combo just went 12.55 @ 107mph on a 100 shot and we still have a ways to go with the tune. By next weekend we should be making some 11 second passes. Heres whats done to the truck;
Forged shortblock
Mahle Pistons, flat tops with -1cc reliefs
K-1 racing 4340 H-beam conn rods
Mahle rings
Clevite bearings
232/242 .600"/.600" 114 LSA camshaft (way to big for current mods, but it should work out good down the road in a few months)
Yank SS3600 converter
Tuning

The heads are stock, nothing done to them. This truck still doesn't even have a cold air intake on it. Still has the factory air box and filter. So we hope to install the CAI by next weekend and work on the tune some more.

Wow, first off you guys need to read a little better. APE and Stripper Motorsports, are not the same or even had anythin to do with one another. So as far as ripping people off, not sure where you get that from.

As for my truck, what should it run? Only mods I have that make power are the cam, and tuning?? The Yank helps the ET, I don't think that the forged pistons or the rods make any power do they?? My truck doesn't have ported heads or even a CAI. Still runs the stock exhaust and manifolds, minus the stock muffler. Still has cats on it. So really how fast should it be on motor and then on a 100 shot?

The fastest TBSS on here is what 12.18 or so that anyone can prove, right? I know someone said another truck supposedly went 11.xx. What is the fastest one right now? What's it got done to it?

Well when most people have an engine built, its gets balanced at the same time.. Balancing and blueprinting an engine can pick up at least another 40-50hp, not to mention taking away alot of drag on the top end rpm band.. You assembly is also lighter weight than stock, some more bonus.. With your weight and ET you posted, you are roughly putting down 400-420 at the wheels.. A 100 shot alone should do that.. Sounds like you definately have some tuning issues... Whats your AFR and timing at?

AFR = 12.5:1

Timing @wot is 26 degrees

The engine assembly is a little heavier than stock due to the rods that we went with. I have never heard that balancing and blueprinting a engine can give you up to 50hp. That would be a lot, how sure are you on that?
So normally on this AWD trucks, stock with a 100 shot will equal mid 12's? How come then there isn't a bunch of these trucks running in the 11's?

What do you expect your truck to run with all of the mods you have done? Looks like you have heads, cam, CAI, headers and a converter, right?? Do you still have cats on the TB with the headers? If so are they high flows?

TchargedLS1TA

We actually prove it time after time... We recently did a forged shortblock in a Silverado with an STS , and running 2 psi less boost, it picked up an average of 36 hp over the entire band and 45 tq. You have to realize that GM just grabs these parts and throws them into an engine without double checking all the clearances- their thought on it is if the first batch of motors is good, the next 10 will be good.. When you B&B an engine, you open up oil clearances, tighten ring gaps, reduce friction, etc, etc... So thats where the extra HP comes in..
On mine, we're having serious tuning issues.. We're running out of fuel above 5000 rpms, but we were still able to make some good power up to that point.. Im still running through the stock cats because I was an idiot and didnt order SW's high flows, so I have a hacked up Y-pipe for now.. On the dyno we ran it through open headers..
i want to say its TonyGXP thats running 12.1's with a 100 shot and converter, not sure though.. My best was a 12.9@106 on the stock tires, I have now doubt if I bolted up some slicks, I could have gone 12.6 or 12.5
If your AFR is 12.5:1 on spray, thats cutting a little lean. we;re sticking to around 11.3-11.5:1 at the most..

Is your truck AWD like mine?? I thought I had pretty good improvements from stock, which was 14.2 @ 107mph. The trucks tune is no where near done and I am sure we will be a little faster next time to the track. I should also have the CAI by the next time we go. Also our AFR was 12.5 on motor, on NOS it was 11.8. Our best sixty foot was 1.69. I would like to see these other trucks that have the same mods as mine in AWD. I am sure the 2wd versions are a lot faster.

I dunno how well the AWD's will handle a butt load of power.. I hear the SS truck's have had problems going over 450 hp at the crank.. Im not to familiar with the transaxle in these things, but I think they are viscous coupling(?) and I doubt built with tight enough clearances to reduce slippage in high HP applications

The TBSS uses the Torsen T-3 for its AWD transfer case, which is all mechanical and virtually indestructable. You will kill a dozen 4L70E transmissions before you ever break one Torsen T-3.

Just a little :offtopic: question....

Did you ever find out the spring rate on the stock TBSS springs? How about the Belltech 2" TB/Envoy drop springs? I'd like to drop another inch but definitely want to have the same suspension stiffness or stiffer...

Gotta be specific....you mean 2 inches more over a stock TBSS, right?

This is what you've done, correct? And what is pictured in your sig?

If so, I'm not sure I want to go that low. I'd like another inch, but two is too much for me, which is why I'm looking at springs.

Can you be a little more specific and describe exactly what issues you are having with the Belltech springs? Why/how would the ride get worse over time? That doesn't make sense.

NORCAL TBSS
06-17-2006, 06:11 PM
yah 2 inches more than stock which is 3 inches lower than a stock trailblazer.

buy the belltech springs and install them and you will see what im talking about. ride is ok at first but you get tired of it very fast.

awd guys i now cut 1 coilspring off the front springs and still rides better than the belltech springs and is about 1 inch drop and not noticeable in ride difference from stock.
