I just got my liscense two days ago and my first place i wanted to go was the dodge dealership up the road from me. I know one of the sales men really well so we went out and had sum fun with a QC daytona. This truck had absolutely every option available! Anyway now that i have driven one im hooked. It has tons of power and it rode more like a car than a truck, the brakes are better on it than anything else i have ever driven. To spite the awesome brakes i got it to powerbrake for a 3 foot patch or so ( we were on a back road with no1 else around) then i let offa the brake and we were doin like 60 in no time! :drive: So now that ive driven one i gotta have it
( eventually, when I can afford the 39k sticker that was on it!)

If you thought that Dodge was good wait until you drive a real truck.

I put 8-9 lenths on a modded (exhaust and Boss 20's) rcsb hemi 2wd last week. And I dont have to powerbrake my truck to light the tires up either.

Well I cant show you stock for stock but I can show ya a stock RCSB 5.3 beating a hemi with a CAI, borla muffler, and some wire pulled from the PCM.

To take it a step further, Joejoe beat a RCSB Hemi (same as above) in his wifes Escalade on 22s.

Well after getting my heads done and exhaust I ran a best of 14.6 in the quarter. Now I have heads, 6.1 cam, and a few other tricks I think I can push low 14s and possibly even into the 13s. Will not Know until VMP on the 26th of this month.

All you guys with the so called fast chevy trucks need to quit hiding online and show up at VMP................all I see fast at the track from chevy is cars!!!!!! I have yet seen a fast silverado at the tracks I run at (I know they are out there, just not at the track). I run at Rockingham, Kinston, VMP quite often........either in the truck or car. Never a fast silverado out playing..............a few "L's" from time to time, but the silverados I see run 15, 16 and 17 seconds............I can't even figure why a guy would bring a 4 door 4 wheel drive silverado to the track to race, but they do.....?? Why not stick with tires and lifts!

Hey golden velvet..........I have you know that I have that exact car, 1985 model, same color with 45,000 miles and in awesome condition. I have turned down 10 grand for it twice....!!! I also have the newer years of the shelby cars, a 1987 Daytona shelby z. With the Z I can assure you one thing, I have put quite a few muscle cars to shame, that includes the vette, stangs, z-28s, TA ws6's. I have a ton in it parts wise, but don't ever underestimate the shelby cars. I have an 11 second one and there is several in the 11s, a few in the 10s, and one in the 9s that I know of, all quarter mile times. BTW, mitsu didn't get involved til the late 80s, this car is all dodge!!!! You can get a crate 2.2 pushing over 500 HP and 400 ft lbs. My 87 Z is all forged, pushing close to that with 30 lbs. of boost all the time............a headgasket every year is no problem! I also just had a 1990 VNT Daytona stolen from here at our farm shop, been gone a month now and no sign of it anywhere.

Dating back to the late 80s when these cars where in prime, smoking mustangs and camaros was no problem!

Dont get me wrong I really like the early Dodge trubo cars. My favorite is the Conquest TSI. But I think the funnest would be on Omni because they just dont look quick.. But they have good motors and I light weight. I it would be a blast to take out a 4 door Omni to the ricer hang outs and just destroy them.

Rumble Bee Ram
03-11-2006, 09:28 PM
I got a video of a glh omni smoking a Z06, boy is it funny...........the vette guy was like WTF?? Thats what I'll be doing tomorrow if the weather permits, smoking some rice and a few mustangs and what ever else shows up! They all laugh at me when they see me pull up, then I power brake to about 2500 RPMs and it sounds like a jet building thrust, then it leaps like a frog and its gone! I just had it out a few ago and smoked a few crustangs riding around on it in town and bought it back home. I need to get some pics of it up on here, just hadn't got around to it yet. Speaking of the omnis, have you seen the value on those lately, one just went in our shelby club for close to 15K. Its the next cars in the dodge line to go up, just hit 20 years old and the average person can't afford the older mopar cars now with the price so high on them, so they step to the turbo dodge side now. Still cheap to build and operate if you get in and do some wrenching on your own. I've got one running 11s that if I had of listened the first time I'd only have about 6K in it tops, but I cooked a motor (hydralocked) and I guess I have around 11K in it now.

i have an 03 quadcab with stock shift points, stock rev limiter, stock stall, stock 20"tires, zero tuning, zero programmer, 5400lb race weight, 3 mods are:
218/222 cam
4.56 gears
longtube headers(no cat)
I ran a best of 14.2@95mph.
That was crossing the traps at 4400rpm in third gear. My cam doesnt even make power until 4500 rpm, and it makes peak power at 5800 rpm which I cant even get to due to the rev limiter.
I am waiting on my superchips programmer to get her along with the smt-6 to tune the truck since it is really rich. I have an edge 2800 stall ready to go in along with transgo shift kit. Once this is all in, I will turn a 13.5.
I see alot of fast chevy trucks on this site, but everytime they have a supercharger, nitrous, or a turbo. I am considering a chevy next time since u guys get to tune your trucks as easily as add gas to mine.

i would line up a stock ECSB chevy VHO against a stock scsb hemi. that would be a close race

I raced a scsb hemi ram against my bone stock silverado when I got it, before the mods and beat him by a car length and a half. He even had the steel wheels and not the dumb heavy dodge twenties. If you look at the build sheet of a ram, dodge puts in a deeper gear to make up for the weight of the twenties. He actually ordered the truck with the deep gear and the steel wheels but it didn't help.

the gears are not for the weight, they are for the tire height difference. The stock 20's are 32" tall. Thats why they come with 3.92 and the 17" wheels come with 3.55.

Hey guys, what the difference between a Rumble Bee and stock sc hemi? All show? My 5.3 beats a sc hemi, but haven't raced a rumble bee or daytona yet.

Turbo Colt's were the shit. They'd beat anything from redlight to redlight. Not to mention the Power/Economy lever. Seriously tho, they weren't bad little cars.

But would you have the stones to race a 1985 ford exp turbo? With the burn't or faded orange paint job and a wing. :offtopic: :drive: :eyes:
