Question Couple Questions

Hey guys, whats up. Im in need of a newer pcm (2000 ), I'm looking at getting an 02 pcm from somewhere. I currently have the superchips on my truck-can I still use it with the different pcm-or will the vin# change. If i cant use it then how much will it take to make it work(clear code) . I talked to a superchips rep and he said I dont need a re-program even if its a completely different vehicle-I call bull on him. Whats your take on it.

Also I plan on getting HPTuners-what should I use to order it now that the pcm is different. Will it even be a problem?, and what are you guys getting-standard or pro, any options with either? I wanted to use the superchips program as a "base tune" if I can-good or bad idea?

I should also add that sometime in the future FI will be introduced and possibly an engine/tranny swap.

Thanks a lot guys-

Andy

I believe the Superchips is married to the VIN, but don't quote me on that. So if you buy a 02' PCM, then it will have a different VIN #, unless you get someone to reprogram your original VIN to the new PCM then it *might* work.

As for the HPT, If you get the 02' PCM you will have to order HPT for a 02' model.
Standard or Pro is really in how much do you have to spend. I can tell you that once I got my EIO & WB hooked up it was ten times easier to tune the VE table.

What did it take to do that-I take it that you have Pro then.

Well I got mine from a member on here before they started in with the standard and pro series. So now I guess it would be considered the Pro model.

Basically all it takes is to have a wideband (LC-1 for cheapness) and the EIO adapter. Then just install the WB and wire it up to the EIO and tune away.
