New to Tuning Question
#1
OK with software like HP is there anything special you need for a forced induction tuning. And my main question , how much time is involved in setting up a good tune. I like the idea of doing it myself but I dont want it to be a second job to get my tune right.

You'll need the enhanced interface and a wideband to get it right when running forced induction. Best thing is to find someone with a similar set-up that will give you their tune, copy it and use it for a base/ start tune and go from there, you'll find that no matter what you'll allways be looking to change something so it's an ever evolving process.

Tunercats OBD2 supports the 1996-2006 trucks, Camaros Vettes, GTO, Cadillacs.
Here is a list of the definition files, the 2006 stuff has been released(old list)
OBD2_07 1996 - 1997 Vortec Trucks (4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L, 7.4L)
OBD2_06 1998 - 2000 Vortec Trucks (4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L, 7.4L)
OBD2_02 1999 - 2000 LS1 Trucks (4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L)
OBD2_03 2001 - 2002 LS1 Trucks (4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L)
OBD2_04 2003 - 2005 LS1 Trucks (4.3L, 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L)
OBD2_08 1996 - 1997 Camaro/Firebird/Corvette/Impala LT1
OBD2_09 1997 - 1998 Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LS1
OBD2_01 1999 - 2001 Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LS1
OBD2_05 2002 - 2003 Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LS1
OBD2_10 2004 - Corvette
OBD2_12 2004 - GTO
OBD2_13 2004 - 2005 Cadillac CTS-V
I got it because its the only software that will tun the older 305, 350, 454 Vortec trucks.
The tuner/flash hardware is $300 and each definition file is $79.00.
My definition file (OBD2_07) covers the 1996-97 trucks, Tunercats is not VIN locked and you can tune as many trcuks as you want for that $79.00. You dont have to pay for EACH vehicle like you do with others.
There is a scanner/logger with GM enhanced PIDS and WBO2 sensor inputting that is under development as we speak.

Here is the Monodax forum, this is teh company who is developing the scanner/logger which will be called MXScan.
