I've been kicking around a CTD truck, probablly a used one. If memory serves me correctly the autos puked out of alot of the mid-late 90's CTD rams? I guess my question is what years should be avoided when looking for a CTD w/ auto trans?

98-01's were probably the crappiest years for trannies in these trucks.. Usually a good converter and valvebody will kepp it in good shape up to 350 rwhp..

My trans is starting to slip now with my mods. If you dont plan on modding much and keep your fluid changed every 25k (but that in half if you tow heavy) you should be just fine.

What are things to look for? i.e., the 4L60E chevys will slam a 1-2 shift before some problems start. Should the deisel auto feel different from one behind a gas motor?

What about the manual shifts, hold up well?

The Manual trans is pretty tough. dont hear many problems with those. some signs of problems on the autos would be a shudder or vibration when the TC trys to lock, ussually around 45- 50 mph very noticable.

Hey TA I noticed the cars in our garages are pretty similar. I guess that means you have good taste :D
