Default ls1 swap vs 6.0 swap

I have read all the search inquiries in regards to ls1 swaps and I understand that it would be a direct swap in my truck. Does the same rule apply to the ls1 swap as the 6.0 swap where it has to be an 01 and up to mate up properly with the 60/65E? I have been searching high and low for 6.0's at a decent price on Ebay and here as well. Most of the ones I see are just bare blocks, or they are broke, or they are brand new and cost a lot. As far as the LS1 5.7 goes, what are the advantages or disadvantages of going with a particular year to go into my 01 silverado.

Same deal man. You can use any year LS1 you want. But I would stay away from a 97 or 98 LS1. Go at least 99+ IMO. www.car-part.com is a good place to start and look. LS1 will have alot of mid range and top end power in its stock form. Its great in a light car. 6.0 is great for TQ and has gobs of it. Choice is yours though.

Thanks, just wasnt sure if the ls1 had a year requirement as do the 6.0. Just seems the 6.0 are hard to find, and I want to purchase a short block with no heads because I want to use ls6 heads if I go the 6.0 route for NA performance. Seems the 6.0 I come across are just the bare block or fully complete, no inbetween.
