Hi I’m new to the site I’m usually in to old AMC's like AMX’s and Javelins but I recently bought a 2003 lightning used from a dealer as my daily driver and occasional tow truck. My truck has currently ran a 13.72 at 99.98mph on a light burnout launching at 800-900rpm any more stall and it would blowing the tires off at the line and slow down through the traps. It is completely stock as far as I can tell with the exception of the grill. It has 25,000 miles and I was looking into starting to modify the truck. I’ve been looking at changing out the air intake and was wondering if there was any real performance difference in the Airaid, K&N, or AEM kits or if it’s all just personal preference. The dyno sheets couldn’t tell me much as they where skued by being corrected hp, not showing if it was taken at the wheels or crank, or tested on modified trucks. The dyno sheets I've looked at range from 13hp to 22hp gaines. Is there any magazine that has done a side by side comparison on the same truck on the same dyno on the same day giving the real world numbers and not the corrected numbers that you usually see?

thanx

i have the air force one with the power tube on my L and had it for bout a year. I love the how u can really hear the supercharger scream even more since i added it. Basically it is personal preference, just what u want it to look like and how much u wanna spend. congrats on the L , enjoy it.

Like Mickey said, it is pretty much personal preference, but I am very happy with my AEM Brute Force CAI.

I have the 12" open filter and like it, its all what you like

I have read where kits like air aid tunnel the air since its closed in and pegs the MAF.

Any vendor will have a great selection; chickenears, JDM, Johnny Lightning, Lightning Force, Power Surge Performance

With the filter I'd say get a 4# pulley, FTVB or line mod valve, and a programmer (SCT XCAL 2) it it will really wake your truck up

Hey my Friends all run JLP CAI, with the ram air ducts and they are very nice kits for the Lightnings. Thats what I would recommend you getting.

LFP stage 2.5 cams, Patriot stage 2 heads, Manley rods and pistons, KB with JLP plenum, Accufab throttle body, LFP longtube headers and a couple other goodies.

100 shot of juice coming soon. :)

I've ran the JLP ram-air on both of my Lightnings i've had, and it worked great on both of them. not only easy HP, but better gas mileage as well.

Running the K&N....sounds like it's gonna suck the hood into the engine when you get on it:)
