One the way into the dealership to buy a new Chevy W/T work truck, they had a beautiful Trailblazer SS sitting out front.. I remembered reading about these when they were just a concept and new nothing about them really.. After talking to the dealer about it, They enlightened me aout the fact that they had the LS2 in it.. Right then I told my girlfriend we're taking the truck money and buying the SS.. It didnt even take a test drive for me to buy it. Anyways, since yesterday we have put about 200 miles on it, and it is a sweet as little SUV.. We've already chalked up a few kills versus some LT1s and LS1s as well as every ricer.. I have a few plans in the near future to do a head/cam swap as well as some headers (which I hear Stainless Works might be the first).. So far the only exhaust I have been able to find is buy MagnaFlow, and I wasnt too impressed with the sound clip they had on their website, so I may have to fab up my own.. I also plan on doin an airbag suspension (or trying to do something with the system already in it). I will post some pics of it later tonite when I get home.. This thing is just too sweet to pass up.. Haf the price of a Vette and way cheaper than a GTO with comparable performance..

Congratulations on your new addition. The LS2 is a great engine that does real nice with mods. I have the MagnaCharger on my 2005 SSR 6 Speed with LS2.

Here are some pics.. If I remember correctly, the MSRP on this was about $34k. After the Red Tag event price of $29k, we had another $1000 off coupon, so the price came out to about $28,1xx.. I think the GTO's right now are base model $34k, right? And I dont think they qualify for the Red Tag prices.. This one wasnt fully loaded though, only the 2wd version, cloth seats, power driver seat, Xm, Onstar, Sunroof, air compressor, and some other little stuff....

I want one of those so bad. This time next year I may have to get one once Im done playing with my truck. I need something practical that isnt my race vehicle and DD. Let us know what kind of mileage you get out of it once you can keep your foot off the go pedal a bit.

Nice Ride Mann take a pic under the hood. I like to see what it looks like and what kind of gears do the 2wd have.

I think both the 2wd and AWD have 4.10 gears.. As of right now, the mileage isnt looking to pretty.. I thought it had a 16 gallon tank, but it actually has a 22 gallon tank, and it was filled up at 94 miles.. Right now its 260 miles on it and 1/4 of a tank :(.. Im hoping its just a little too much right foot action and just a break-in period for it.. It has two mufflers on it- one underneath that is about 3 feet long and another resonator infront of the tailpipe... I think Im gonna hack off the resonator and see what it sounds like, and then that huge muff is getting ditched..

Mileage should get better after it breaks in but don't expect anything too magnificent, awesome truck BTW...

Yea, well it said 15 city, 19 highway on the sticker.. I bet it will turn out the same or 1 mpg less than the GTOs.. They only weigh about 500-600 lbs more i think, and these Trailblazers look pretty aerodynamic..

Hit an open highway, set the cruise on 60-65mph, then reset the average mpg read out. after about 15 miles on the highway, you will then know what the highway miliage could be. It should be right at what the sticker says.
Of course certain factors will make it vary like; head or tail wind, weather conditions, extra weight the vehicle is carrying, turning off the A/C, and traffic conditions.
If my VHO Silverado can hold 19-20 at a smooth 65mph, then your TB SS should too.

LOL. Your just going to have to change up your driving habits a bit if you want better. It will do it. I average 16.5+ on a daily routine. That's from the Houston medical center back to the north side of Houston.
Keep your top speeds a 70mph or lower. If your cruising over 2000 rpm's, your just basically burning excessive fuel. These engines get best fuel economy at 1900 rpms at cruise. When you accelerate from stops, keep the rpms under 2000 between shifts.
If you want better, try it.
Just take a look at some of my pics of my gauge cluster. There is one of them where I'm at an average of 18 mpg (about 2/3 of hwy driving). Then there's another pic showing my daily commute average mpg numbers at 16.7 mpg. The sticker MPG numbers that came on these vehicles are not really all that far fetched. It can be done.

I took my TB SS on a round trip to Ky in December. I averaged 16.3 on the road, cruising at 79 most of the way. Around town I am getting 14-15.

65-70 cruise flat road about 10mi, showed avg 20.9, not bad at all!! but since that ride home from the dealer my left foot will not allow a repeat of that event :bang:
