I'm putting a fully built 383 / TH350 / Ford 9" rear / 411 gears in my 84 GMC fullsize truck. I'm swapping parts from my 1972 Chevy Nova. The Nova has mono leafs / traction bars with leaf springs pads welded on the bottom. Measurement from center to center is 42 1/2". This is the same measurement on my truck. So shouldn't I be able to swap the 9" rear under the truck and just use some lowered leaf springs with a flip kit and use the traction bars for added strength? Then just have some shock mounts welded on.

That should work just fine . I would suggest putting caltracs on it right now they will come with bottom plate so you can mount rearend on top of springs. I have the same setup ford 9" in my dodge I used a set of CE coil over brackets to mount my shocks.
