Default GTP goes down

Mods on cars in the kill
Dakota-5.9, with FIPK and MSD wires
GTP-home depot & K&N intake, cat back of a lt1 Z28 and a magnaflow high flow cat

A friend of mine owns a 97 2 door GTP and he has always talked a large amount of **** for how fast it is (before he got it, it was driven hard..very hard). Anyways, when I got my R/T a month or two ago the first night he saw it he said he would beat it. I wanted to run for kicks then and back out saying he had to do somthing else...

Flash to a week ago: He ends up running into me coming out of Wal-Mart. We bullshit with a couple friends for awhile when someone brings up the challenge. I say I'm down if he wants to go and that I know a great spot. He says alright...and insert some cocky bullshit here.

We go to said spot and get lined up. Even in the day the spot we are at is pretty dead, but it was late late at night. So we have two friends go out around a 1/4 mile and watch the finish line. A friends Cavalier is behind us to honk to give us a flag. I raise my revs to alittle over 1000 on the third honk I was sleeping on it and in haste put the gas peddle down...hello wheelspin....****. The GTP spins as well, but not as bad and pulls ahead by a car or less. It stays like that the rest of the way down with him inching away a tiny bit on right before the finish.

We turn around and meet back up...I want a rematch. GTP is down, but looking surprised that I was even where I was. I know I can get out quicker than that and he didn't pull but a tiny tiny amount. So we line back up.

This time I raise the revs and pay attention. On the third honk, I'm gone, minimal wheelspin and off. The flagger said, I put a good 1 1/2 to 2 cars on him early (he spun same as last time, he just nails the gas from a stop everytime) By the finish, he had gotten closer, but still ended up seeing my taillights from a car and then some back.

We meet up and bullshit, he doesn't say much and looks pretty butthurt. I want to run a 3rd time and break the tie and prove who's faster, he declines and leaves very quickly and has always had something else to do everytime I've asked if he wants to line up again.

nice.. you all are probably the same in the 1/4 it sounds like... well with you two driving... he pulls a little top end and you pull better on the low end.

I would imagine.. with the same driver... the GTP should be about a tenth faster than your truck. Good kill tho... shut those little boys up. All they are, are kids who didnt get the F-body they wanted, for their birthday, lol (David, you can comment if you wish, jk)

His car isn't running well, he won't admit it, but you can tell his car is beat up. If it had been a more healthy engine, I probably would have got beat. But, hey I'm running alittle faster now thanks to recent mods, I'm still looking for another rematch.

Same here. They wouldnt be that bad in front wheel drive if they had a trany that could handle any sort of power.

I got one on the freeway the other night. I was cruising along at 75 or so when I saw a couple of ricers and the GTP coem screaming onto the freeway maybe 1/8 mile ahead of me. I decided to chase. The ricers ate **** early to both myself and the GTP, and I think the GTP may have let off a little to start with. I came flying up on his left side and he must have gotten back on it again as I got closer, but I passed him and continued to pull further away all the way up to 130 (just happened to have HPT logging on that drive also). After I slowed down he came up on my left side, I rolled the window down and there were two kids, looked like maybe 18 or so, and they had the "holy ****" look in their eyes, gave me a "yeah!" and kept going. I got off at the next exit. It was great!
