iwell about a yeay ago i bought some reindexed torsion keys from truckinsuspension that were supposed to level my truck out, and they did to some extent, i paid like 70$ for em with shipping. my question is im a tech for ford and i can get the ford keys really cheap so should i leave the keys i have now on there or get the ford keys? will there be any difference? also my drivers side is almost an inch lower than my passengers side, i think due to my sagging torsion bar. because i still have some blot left on my passengers side torsion key adjuster but my drivers side is maxed and is still sagging?

Not sure if the TS keys have the same indexing as the Ford keys. But the Ford keys cost about $50 for 2 (I assume you can get them cheaper). Your truck is 7 years old...the bars themselves could be worn. I'd pick up a set of the Ford keys and hold them up under the truck to see if the clocking is the same compared to the TS ones. If not, then the Ford ones could give you more lift. If they're the same or similiar, then new TBs are required. I'd fgo with 3/4 ton bars at that point.

how hard is it to change to 3/4 ton bars? yeah i can get the ford keys for about 16$ a piece.

It's not hard...just have to get the right GM indexing key that matches the bars so you can load them.

the key's you have are the same as ford key's. Don't spend the money for nothing. Put in new tbar's instead.

I got a 2500 and everyone Ive talked to said if I wanted to do the torsion bar lift to get green keys (stock on 1500's) Aparently 2500's torsion bars index is less.

its the 99-03 ford keys that level our trucks, the keys are made by the same company for both ford and gm. The ford keys in a gm will raise the front 2" I think we sell em for less than 40 bucks

yeah i have the same prob as ROOK, but i think ima just replace my drivers side first and go from there, the cheapest i found the bars were 141$ my dealer cost.

Hi; On the same topic, once you have the keys, how much can you crank the torsion bars. I just cranked the stock torsion bars and got the same lift as a friend who just put the keys in. But if I put the keys in and can crank the bars, I might be able to get more lift as well as 315's on 16' rim. Can anyone advise? I have an 03 2500 HD.

I wouldn't go more than 2" above stock height...any more and you are asking for problems w/ your CVs and balljoints.JMO.

Some trucks can get more lift out of the stock keys than others...I got maybe 1.25" out of maxxing mine (6 turns), but some get closer to 2". I would only use diff. keys if I couldn't get 2" out of the stockers.

Even if you can get that extra 2" out of your keys, your shocks dont have the travel to support it.

If I did install the keys, I am guessing that I only need another inch if that to fit the 315's. Between the tires, the T-bars, and the 2" rear blocks I got over 3.5" of lift on the stock shocks. If I could install the keys with the tbars cranked app 1" the 315's and bigger rear blocks, I could get close to 6" of lift. I would most likely have to change the shocks. However, I have heard about the CV's, Balljoints, and the Drive-shaft angles. So I don't know. I just need that 1 more inch in the front and I think I would be good. I might consult my local 4WD shop and try it.

I know with all the 6in "kits" hey have spacers that make the cv's longer.

Hey fellas,

I put the Ford keys in mine 00 Sierra 4X4 and was wondering where to buy the blocks to lift the rear. I actually had to lower my TBs a little to equal out the front and rear end. It looked like my truck was hauling something heavy in the rear and was awful looking so I just lowered the bars down to get that level appearance again. Those keys lifted mine almost 2.5" in the front. I am running 285 Pro Comps right now but wouldn't mind throwing 315s on it as well. I already have Pro Comp ES3000 shocks, but I don't know if they would extend that far if I lifted it back up. I would like to lift it back up to the original height when I put the Ford keys in it.

Thanks

doing only the keys is pretty much a half a$$ job...when its cranked up that far your ruining your shocks because they are not long enough and they bottom out...the factory bump stop hits way to early and its almost impossible to do a proper alignment...i looked into it and found a company called cognito motorsports and they sell a well engineered leveling kit... http://www.cognitomotorsports.com/01-06_GM_8-lug/2-3_leveling_system.htm thats there site and this is a nice write up on the kit http://www.off-road.com/chevy/projects/2500hd/cognito_levelkit/

Hey GatorFan - You can get those blocks almost anywhere. You will have to get longer u-bolts because of the blocks. I got mine from the local 4WD shop. But try any of your parts shop around you and they should be able to help, or you can try Summit Racing. I had the same rear-end sag so that is why I put the blocks in. If you need the length of the u-bolts let me know and I can try to find the dimensions. As far as it being a half-A** job, I have been running my setup for 56000 miles and did the same on three different HDs w/o any problems. However, as Jays99 VRO states there probably is a more effiecient way. I am not going to quit until I get those 315's to fit.

Happy New Years guys. I enjoy browsing the threads and listening/reading all your constructive help. Thanks Ted
