just over 300 is what i read in a magazine, I actually think they're a waste of money, no offense to the thread starter and not tryin to hate on the RST. In the magazine they said you couldn't build one for the price, but you can buy a base model truck just like it same drive train and all, for $14,000,but it'll probably be white w/no options, that leaves you just over $21,000 to modify. That's a paint job of your choice, wheels, hood, grille, aftermarket options if u don't have em (power windows and locks) performance options, suspension, interior. W/$21000 i believe i could put an RST to shame, i've spent around $6500 on mine and IMO i think it looks better, and from the test, performs better.

damn with 21,000 u could make it one fast ass truck, put a 572 in there and still have money for beer

well i got mine for 28k after TTL, not the 35k that they sticker for, and mines a 5.3 auto and runs considerably quicker than the times posted in that magazine article (Last time out i ran a 9.51 @ 75mph in the 1/8th)

Wooo, thats a damn slick truck. Is that a 4.8, you can't get a Manual 5.3 can you?..

no they say the 5 speeds cant handle the torque of the 5.3 . but its funny how joe gibbs sells a 4.8 with a supercharger and people do it all the time . i just think the 5.3 shaft or whatever the difference is on the 4.8 to the 5.3's is what stops them

RSTSilverado
12-09-2005, 06:39 AM
Yea it sucks, you only get the option between 4.8 5spd or 5.3 auto

If I'm not mistaken after 01 all the cranks were short. Yeah, the 5 speeds & stock clutch obviously can't hold up to the massive tq of a stock 5.3. :eyes:

your truck is what comes to my mind everytime i think about this lol . it can take near 500 lbs at the wheel , but not a stock 330 at the crank .

looks good but
I think it would look better with matched calipers and pieces under the hood

other than that I like the scheme

I don't like the rear spoiler and I think they should have carried out the orange stripe from the tip of the bumper cover, over the top, down through the bed, over the tail gate and to the under side of the roll pan. And of course it should have at least a 6.0 or not the 427!

Scrapin'4.8

Yeah the RST is what made me put the stripes on my truck, but i did put them over the whole truck, hood, top, and down the back all the way down the roll pan

Now if they only came with a 6.0L and 4L65 or 80 then you would have something. But they are pretty trucks, I just like lookin different from the rest I guess.

i decided to put stripes on my truck. vinyl last for a about 5-7 years supposedly before they start to age. i got my 5.3 loaded for a about 28. if i knew i could get a rst for the same price, i would have got that.

regencey trucks are awesome. but pricey, i just did some regencey tricks to mine to duplicate the look for less( escalade handles, silver/leather wrapped steering wheel, billet grille, removed ext molding, and aftermarket wheels, just need to do the silver dash and red engine cover, i dont have the headers or baer brakes but i could modify as i could afford it and i even ended up with a turbo! :)

I like the regency trucks, sharp looking rides! The vinyl decaling will hold up for years to come, soap and water will clean them pretty good and you'll never have to worry about them normally..............and if you do its alot cheaper than paint!

No, you can't get a 5.3 manual. I only gave $23k for my Joe Gibbs out the door. It didn't come with a supercharger or the suade seats. The RST's are nice trucks :judge:

Hey MJ... I never noticed before, but why dont you put a Joe Gibbs bumper on your truck since you have some of the other stuff.

there great looking trucks but it doesent matter when ur the one looking at the back of some one elses car/truck. i would rather spend the money on mods instead of looks. but if you like it thats cool man.

I think it got stolen and the price to replce it is kind of rediculous. Get an 06' black airdam on there and call it a day.

If your looking to go to the strip, save your $$ the RST isn't worth it. From the factory just buy a stock RCSB 6.0L auto and it will woop on the RST and still have money to spare to do a few mods hey and if you want stripes most paint shops might charge you no more than 200 bucks.

:bang:

I wish they offered a 6.0L in the reg cabs...the closest you can get is the vho or vortex max trucks. basically a RWD extcab. SS without the bumpers/cladding, nice try though.

sorry guys but i have nothing but fun with my rst. when i bought mine i didnt even test drive it because i knew i would like it. sure 36k is a lot for a rcsb but if you think that only 300 were made in 04, and that it'll one day be a collectible it kinda out ways the price. besides one of the reasons i bought it was because it was different lookin and mainly it was a stick.and no you cant get a stick with the 5.3l

Iv'e never seen a 5.3 auto regency, but i have seen a 6.0L ECSB one. It was 2 wheel drive and had all the goodies. It was a very rare truck. Saw it personally at the local dealership.
