Had to do a 950 mile trip over the weekend, and about half the rip i was in 4high due to the blizzard conditions. Well on the way home i noticed when the torque converter would go to lock ussually around 45-50mph the truck would shake a little bit. after it was locked it would slip if i gave it some pedal to accelerate Rpms would move up faster than the truck would go forward. I had to pass 1 time from about 50mph and the truck down shifted but once it got into gear rpms went to 3300pms and bounced there like i was on the rev limiter. does this sound like a TC problem or more?

Check your fluid, if its brown and smells burnt, your tranny is toast.. A common problem with 2nd gen converters is they like to jump in and out of lockup at about 40-45mph. Its cause by noise interference in the APPS or TPS.. I noticed when I threw DD3s and a Edge Comp in my truck, my stock converter shuddered really badly- not a good thing to do becuase you will more than likely grenade the converter.. Its best to start saving up for a DTT or PDR tranny and converter.. PM me if you want to know where to get a good one at a reasonable price..

Tranny fluid is pinkish-red, smells good, and is still at the correct level with engine running in neutral. no leaks anywhere.

My truck is an 05 and pops in and out at 45-50 with the tow haul on. Felt like I had a bad converter from the factory but I read that it was normal. Oh well...if it blows then twin turbos and upgraded tranny here I come lol.

Sounds like it may just be a coverter clutch problem- still not a good sign. Too much heat ond torque will rip the stock converter apart

You think the converter will hold for a month or 2 if i drive easy? need a little time to come up with some money for this project :(

Yea, you should be fine as long as you dont go WOT.. Maybe a good time to get a tranny temp guage as well if you plan on running the stock trans for a while. Heat is the killer of everything in the tranny..

hell i was locking and unlockin and if it still outlasted the injection pump, but yeah i would seriously look into and ATS converter and other tranny uprades, the stock trans is junk. (when you add power)

Just keep overdrive off until you can stay above 50mph. Mines started doing the same thing. The comp is set to go into overdrive at 45mph but thats just too slow with 3.55's
