Not really pointless, they do this allot for rapid prototyping. Another process is stereolithography. When you need something to put in a bean counters hand so they understand what you need a million dollars in developement for, this is the way to go. Also good for checking clearances or actual fit into a test vehicle or new chassis design.

LOL, that's pretty cool...low hp applications have 2 staple mains, while high hp apps use 4. I wonder if it has post-its for cats!
