A little history, last November is when I ran my "previous" best, a 15.24 @ 88.22 mph. Back then I had a Magnaflow (12289) muffler using the stock tailpipe with resonator, an Airaid MIT using the stock airbox with a Ram-Air setup and the factory 20's with 275/60R20 tires. Tonight I ran a best of 14.98 @ 90.62 mph. This was with the stock muffler back on, the stock Hemi Hat back on still using the stock airbox with Ram-Air setup and factory 17's with 265/70R17 tires. I think my first bracket race time would have been faster, maybe a 14.95 judging by my 1/8 mile time and mph but I backed off because I was pretty far ahead. I lost in the second round to a fellow Hemi Ram owner, his reaction time was better and it just about equeled our different dial in times, 14.94 (me) vs 15.20 (him). I definitly need an LS rear end, this one legger is worthless. My first run was a 15.61 @ 90.59 mph, I hammered it off the line and spun like a big dog, had to back off the gas and then get back on it. The next three runs I really had to baby it off the line, not getting much of a jump out of the hole at all. When I decide to get another muffler and CAI, I'm getting a Flo-Pro HD muffler (suppose to be almost stock quiet and NO resonation but provide a nice boost in power, ya we'll see)) and a Volant CAI, I want use the Ram-Air set up I made and have an enclosed airbox so the induction noise isn't real loud. Overall I'm happy, made it into the 14's with a stock truck except for the Superchips I have. Not bad for a big ol Quad Cab.

Nice i can see your 4x2, so with everything stock and going from 20s to 17s made you faster than mods and 20s, thats a bit over a 2 tenths drop wonder what it runs mods and 17s 14.8

Nice runs, great times for a basically stock truck, on par and in some cases better then what a SS runs stock.

Considering you ran that time on 17's with a peg leg, that time is very impressive. Get a LSD and you'll see another 10th or 2 drop in your times. The stock 20's vs the stock 17's I heard are anywheres from 2 to 4/10th's improvement. Which makes me feel good because my times are done on the stock 20's with 10lb heavier rubber on each wheel over stock. ;) It's not so hard to see how a ram on 20's can run 15.1, then the same truck on 17's can do a 14.7.

I agree that some of these mods, muffler/CAI aren't worth much, as your tests have proven, but one mod that does work is headers. I can't say enough about them and high recommend getting a set. A truck identical to mine, exact same mods minus the headers was consistantly 5/10th's slower then me in 1/4mile.

Shoot for some mid 14's Ram4pick. ;)

Well kind of. My best which I compared to was last November but I did go in the summer, the best I ran was a 15.50 on a hotter day. I think I had the 17's then, stock intake (no MIT) but still using the Ram-Air and I had a DI/DO Magnaflow muffler that time. So really the only mod that time was the Magnaflow, this time the only mod was the Superchips, the air was also cooler this time. It's hard to compare the three times, all three times I had a different set up on the truck, this time was definitly the best though. I'm pretty pleased that a stock truck except for a tune dipped into the 14's, although barely. When I go in the Spring, I'll probably have the Flo Pro and Volant, nothing else planned so I can compare the times to this time and see if an exhaust and CAI are really worth the cost.

Yep, I think I need to get an LSD before I do any mods but, but, I need to convince the wife I need one. Maybe I'll slide all over the road a few times when it's raining with her in the truck and show her I really need it. LOL! I've heard good things about headers but also some bad. Some guys start through codes after they get some. Did you have any problems with yours? Again, another mod I need to convince the wife I need. I'll start softening her up now.

No problems whatsoever with mine. I did take it to the local shop in town that does most of the exhaust work for the serious drag cars. To do the whole install was about $500Cdn, they kept it over night to make sure there were no leaks or anything of that sort, and I never got any code errors from it. I would imagine the codes are from either the computer not being reset or a problem with the O2 sensors.
