:eek2:

It's almost all the way at the end of the rules found here. (http://www.nhra.com/apcm/templates/news_template.asp?articleid=9034)

Four-wheel-drive is permitted per class requirements; four-wheel-drive vehicles running quicker than 9.99 are prohibited.

Get that 9 second run in Jim! :judge:

Sounds like to Gestapo has come to town!!! :guns:
What the hell is that regulation about anyway?? Do they not realize most people do not do the whole run in 4wd anyway???
Dumbass car dorks I say. :jest: We don't want your big dumb truck running faster than our precious cars!! :judge:

Once you are in 4WD and under load it will not come out of 4WD as it is physically impossible to disengage. Hitting the button to go 2WD mid track won't do a thing.

I really can't see any purpose for this, especially if both driveshafts have loops other than CYA for insurance purposes. Your 4WD components were not made for 130 MPH usage so it opens up the tracks to potential lawsuits. Another benefit of our litigous society.... :(

That's a really dumb rule. Does that include awd vehicles like the ss?

I'm thinking it might even exclude AWD imports such as DSM's, EVO's, WRX/STI's, etc.

Syclones and typhoons might also be excluded too!

Sounds like someone has it out for Parish(maybe some of JLP's buddies) to keep him from being legally a 9sec truck.

i am miles away from being legal for 9's anyways it wont effect me. i feel for the syclone/typhoon guys and really wonder about the dsms and wrx's. they need to be a little more clear on who this effects.

4 wheel drift might be a clue to them.

Anyone know the 9 sec 4x4 F150 in GA? He is building his truck into a AWD Turbo 1500+hp beast to run in the Outlaw 10.5 class. Not sure if he already did or not but has to get all the drivers to sign a letter to let him run in there class. Thats what i understand anyways its the Red F150 4x4 with silver flames on the front it was supercharged and sleeper looking, But pulls the front end so high the rear was hittin.

no one will ever have a 9 second buggatti (sp?) !

btw, I've launched and gone right into 2wd from 4wd. only once on the street but about 50 times in the sand. I also have manual t-case if it matters

I got an email back today a week after I sent my question. This is what it said:

Prior to the 2006 season, the rule initially prohibited 4 wheel drive vehicles from running quicker than 12.99. Considering the advancements that can be done to the late model all wheel vehicles and four wheel drive trucks, it was decided to review and change this rule down to 9.99.

The reason the rule is in place is mainly due to the issues associated possible drive train failures with some vehicles in the past along with some vehicles exceeding the height limit at some tracks with oversized off road tires.

Hope this answers your question. If you still have concerns, please feel free to contact us.

So it has always been there but just been one of those :turd: rules. Most likely to cover their ass from lawsuits. I see it to be no big deal unless you are trying to compete in a National event.
