I was sitting here thinking about when I finally decided to start working on the truck. One day I was at the Walmart and came across this issue of Sport truck with a nice looking single cab short bed. This one, in fact.
From that day forward....I had it in my mind to build the baddest truck in my area, but I could never achieve the look that this thing has....and this thing is over 3 yrs old. I really think the fender flairs look good on this truck, and I'm not a huge fan of flairs. I want my truck to look like this one!!!!

My truck actually turned me on to the whole fullsize truck thing. I had been seeing it at the dealer for months and months. finally stopped to take a closer look and test drive it. Bought it that same day and it's been an absolute money pit ever since
I had been into mini trucks in the past, and had actually been out of the custom vehicle scene for several years before I bought the one I have now. Before I bought my truck I had started working on a Honda CRX but it got totaled by a Semi. I have that same issue of Sport TRuck at the house. At one time I wanted to copy that truck excaclty. If I hadnt had so many engine problems over the years I probably could have. Those fender flares unfortunalty are one off custom ones, you cant buy those.

The one that got me was the black stepside that was in truckin a few years ago. I think it was called bulletproof. It had a 6.0L swap with a procharger d1sc on it. He had a fuel cell and nitrous in the bed. The rear was narrowed, had a 5 lug swap and a set off Budnik Gasser wheels. Appearence wise was a street scene bumper, tahoe grill with billet, Sir Mikes roll pan, a fiberglass tonneau, and a DJM drop(either 4/6 or 5/7). The interior had a extended cab console with gauges and a floor shifter in it along with a 4 point cage. I know everyone knows which one I am talking about, it seems to come up on the forums from time to time.
Shortly after purchasing mine, I did see the GMC posted above and it convinced me buying a stepside was the right choice!

Tim Lane, owner of Lane's Hi-Tech, '90 chevy truck with the '00 Escalade front clip. It was called "Orange Appeal" and was in Truckin' back in 2001. Tim also put the full interior from a '98 in it and even the drivetrain. I know everyone has seen it, cause it was in numerous ads for Mertek's caddy clip kit. He sold that and bought another '91 model that he did almost the same but was a copper color and called it "Copperhead". It too was in Truckin'. He did my '99 Sierra, recently did my '00 Z-71, and I'm going to get him to do some work on my '02.

I've been into trucks since the early 90's....what really got me into trucks was going to shows and hanging out w/ a local car club. This is back when 15" Hammers were the ****!
As far as what got me into the Sierra? I would have to say the lack of room for a 5'9", 300 pound guy in a Sonoma! This is what I had before I bought the Sierra; "fast-bagged" on 18's. I was running two tanks, two compressors on the street and nitrogen for shows, w/ 1/2" line back in 2000....

Try being 6'-2", 300 lbs, and driving a Sonoma reg. cab w/ a 5-speed in downtown traffic. Trending Topics
