I've got an '04 2500 with the SS facia, I had the center chrome band painted on the grille to match to match the truck (white), but after being painted 4 times, it keeps peeling in the same spots even though it's been prepped correctly.

I'm wondering if I get a factory painted grille and paint over it, if it will hold the paint better.

I'm asking this because my hood was attacked by a full soup can on the freeway at 70 mph and put 2 good size dings in the front edge. My body guy wants $500 to repair and repaint the hood. At that price I figured I'd update the front end with a front end like the Intimidator SS.

I can't find anything on the Chevy site and the dealers in my area don't know squat.

I had a GoodMark Steel Cowl Induction Hood on my 2004 SS and everyone that saw it was amazed. It wasnt that much money and the prep work was easy. Make sure when they repaint the center bar to have them add a flex agent to the paint (both color and clear coats) and it will work alot better.

Yes ,they will come equipped with the HD hood and color matched grill!!! Man I really dont know how long will old up if you painted over it.Best thing to do is find a unpaintable grill without the chrome center strip. I think thats were the problem is even if you prep and paint the chrome strip paint still wont stick. Also check stylinconcepts.com they have one also

Thanks for the replies. Maybe the work truck grille would be the way to go. It's unpainted (I think), but if I go with the SS grille shell, all my grilles will match (grille shell, lower grill, and scoop grilles). Decisions, decisions.... :confused:

The 03 work truck grills are unpainted in the U-shaped part but the center still has the chrome center. Hey keeps us posted on what you decide to do. Your truck is really good looking. :D

I really like the HD hood on the new trucks with the "power bulge" or raised cowl. If I do change the hood, I'll have to change the grill. Still don't know what I'm gonna do.

I picked up a brochure on the '06 Silverados and the only pic for the SS is on the group shot for colors. It shows a color matched hood and grille, but the one on Chevy's website that scream is showing shows a chrome grille. Now the pic in the brochure for the "Limited Edition Dale Earnhardt Intimidator" truck has a color matched grille. WTF?

Chevy's gotta get their sh it together.

this is a poorly done photoshop by a marketing division hired by gm. it is not correct.
