What kind of gains should I expect with them, a 2800stall and a tune? 1slow01Z71 09-18-2005, 05:23 PM Guess you are talking inreference to how much time you will drop in the quarter with those mods I would say close to a second. That cam should drop you 2-3 tenths since its not a very radical cam, tune ~4 tenths and the stall 3-4 tenths is what I would say. I dropped .8 in the quarter witha tune, 3000 stall, and cutouts. ONLYA4.8L 09-18-2005, 06:49 PM Wow! Thats a large chunk of time off.. I will also do cut outs as well.. Should I run dual cut outs and what size? After cats or in front? I decided to go with 26918-16 springs with the LS6 cam.. So when I get a bigger cam, dont have to switch springs. ONLYA4.8L 10-16-2005, 07:12 PM Also wanted to know if its worth putting in with just the cam and springs? TN_TRITON 10-16-2005, 10:40 PM I just installed the 01 LS6cam and springs in my 02 Silverado 5.3 last weekend. I can tell you it makes a very noticeable difference and was well worth it. It did slow the idle down a bit and made the exhaust alittle deeper sounding. I would go for it. FILE 10-17-2005, 12:31 AM Nice to know people are getting good results with this it. At what RPM are you shifting with this cam?I just installed the 01 LS6cam and springs in my 02 Silverado 5.3 last weekend. I can tell you it makes a very noticeable difference and was well worth it. It did slow the idle down a bit and made the exhaust alittle deeper sounding. I would go for it. ONLYA4.8L 10-17-2005, 12:50 AM Hell yeah!! With that 2800 stall it will be perfect.. It may make a bit more of a difference on a 4.8, since it smaller displacement.. But yeah how many rpms do you go upto? TN_TRITON 10-17-2005, 08:21 AM 6000 shift and 6400 rev limit ONLYA4.8L 10-17-2005, 02:38 PM wow!! and it makes power all the way up? TN_TRITON 10-17-2005, 04:04 PM Yes, it would probably make go further but, I am afraid to turn the stock bottom end much further. Keith 10-17-2005, 06:24 PM Yes, it would probably make go further but, I am afraid to turn the stock bottom end much further. How was tuning for this cam? FILE 10-17-2005, 06:27 PM Don't be afraid, I am turning my stock bottom end to 6500 with no problems. Yes, it would probably make go further but, I am afraid to turn the stock bottom end much further. 1BadAction 10-20-2005, 07:49 AM did you loose much bottom end torque with the ls6 cam? im thinking of doing one in my 5.3 but I tow, so I don't want to loose 1-2000 torque that it has now. TN_TRITON 10-20-2005, 09:07 AM I did not lose any bottom end. I still tow my 21ft bassboat every weekend with the truck. 1BadAction 10-20-2005, 10:29 AM kewl... sounds like a good cam for me. custom 68 10-20-2005, 03:21 PM dont forget there are different ls6 cams I think they changed in 02 they are a bit more aggressive... atleast on the top end. Dave TN_TRITON 10-20-2005, 04:06 PM Yes there is. I went with the 2001 LS6 cam because I felt it to be more suited to a truck because of the lower lsa. '00 Buck 10-26-2005, 11:29 AM 01 LS6 207/217 .525/.525 116* part #12560950 02 LS6 204/218 .550/.550 117* part #12565308 I keep finding conflicting info as to cam specs, these are off the gmpartsdirect.com website. Some info I have shows the 01 cam used in the LS2, others show the 02 cam was used. The LS7 cam is even higher lift, not even the same (but then it's in a 7.0L 427ci engine). Either way, both of those cams were designed with emissions in mind and I know several guys that have one or the other in their trucks and like 'em. We just started the sniffer test here in Austin this year so it's something to think about. I'm still leaning toward the 01 cam when I get the money & time to do it. |
