i have a standard 4.8 1500 rst, standard transmission , what came would be best for the truck, i want low and mid range power, right now i have 373's but i plan on 4;10's with the cam install. id hope with the new gears and the cam the truck should come off the line like a bat outta hell. so please fill me in with what i need. i really would like to have a mid 13 sec truck. if not atleast a mid 13 sec truck i want a truck that will honestly roast the tires off, posi. to be honest with you for some reason the truck does no like to get those tires spinnin, granted they are 20's and prob heavy but it shouldnt take much to do that so if you can help me with that also, i would appreciate it

212/218 should get you started. What else do you have done? Its hard to help with out details What you have, what you want, what kind of driveability you expect, what supporting mods etc.
I was loving my 5.3 with heads and cam only. Tll the motor blew :bang: :bang: , but for a 5.3 it was pretty bad. I had a 3000 stall and a shift kit waiting to go in, but now I get to start from scratch

I think you are heading in the right direction. I would do 4.10's posi, ( if it's not already). I would recommend something like a 212/218 Comp Cam. Lift is .522/.529 on a 114* LSA. You will need to change your valve springs too, use their 918 springs. Also be sure to get a good computer tune, it will be necessary with the cam. This alone is not going to get you in the 13's though, especially with those heavy wheels. With the help of a little juice you would be pretty close then.

sorry about the lack of detials , i assumed people would have known what was already done to the chevy rst. the truck has trueflow intake, exhaust, ignition, headers, superchips. this is my summer vehicle, i do drive it alot in the summer almost everyday, however i dont care about high idle and gas, that is not concern. i do very little high way driving only when going to the track and to car shows. i just want a lot of tourque and mid range. like i was saying i want something so i can lay my posi stripe if i felt like it. the truck has potentiol i just need to guide it. my plan is to throw in cam, 410's, maybe traction bars, and whateva else you guys can convince me of lol. but honestly i just want this truck to get up and move. if i was able to get in low 14 and 13 i would be happy.

comp cams 220/224 .530/.534 LSA 112

should have a nasty lope and make good top end power, you can use the LS6 or the comp 918 springs, need a tune to bring it out and correct idol issues
and you will need a much better set of push rods.

The cam I have pulls strong to 6500 or so and has good low end as well. Don't be so quick to swap to 4.10's though. When you add the cam you will be adding torque. People put lower gears to increase torque multiplication on engines that lack in torque. A more powerful motor likes a gear ratio that it can pull in and use it instead of just banging gears and going nowhere. Mine wound up through 1st plenty fast when it was stock. Any more gear and it would have been rediculas in my opinion. Now that I have added all my mods I'm thinking about going to a 3.42 or a 3.23. First gear is just about useless now. Your NV3500(mg5) has a 4.02 1st gear ratio and the 700r4,4l60,4l60e,4l65e have a 3.07 1st. when these guys talk about swaping gears they have a little more reason than you do. Also, as far as stall speed goes, a manual trans has what ever stall speed you want it to have. You can actually drive it instead of sit back and ride in it. You can change things up without having to drop $400 + on a converter. :drive:

From what it sounds like you are wanting I'd go with 220* or more duration and probably a 112 lsep. It would require a tune of course. Even mine does.

i would do a 410 gear, tr 220or the tr224,springs and a tune of course.get some stock wheels for some slicks. my buddy bluecajun5.3 has a rcsb 03 with a tr 220,3000 stall,410 gear, tune ,and supporting bolt ons and his truck just ran 13.14@100 in like 90* weather. if your still not happy theres always laughing gas to cheer you up

I would have to disagree with the gear swap, I just dont think it would be worth the money performance wise. Drop in a TR220 with a new set of springs and pushrods, get yourself a few bolt-ons such as underdrive pulley, e-fans and so forth. Use the money you save from the gear swap and invest it toward a custom tune from one of the sponsors to the right. The 4.8 is not a torque monster, so dont expect it to have a lot of torque. If thats what your looking for, then you should look into a 6.0L and T-56 swap and not waste your time or money on the 4.8.
