I was very impressed with a lightning running 11.18 in the 1/4.
KB upgrade w/ 18lbs, built bottom end, 8.5 compression ratio, ported heads and cam, stall, and built trans. Simply bad ass.
Just wish i wasnt raised a chevy boy, lol.

ur probly right with that money number, a built short block will run you bout 6-7 grand. Ive seen on other boards someone run as low as a 11.05 on a stock block. 11.18 is screaming for sure. Congrats to who had that time

Probably both at the same time this winter. I'm going to try to run the rest of the season as is, then I'm going to make the truck legal to 8.50s and put the built motor in :)

Sounds like a plan. Would be great to see a gen 2 L go into the 8s. I hope you get to run JL sometime soon all boost to see just how a stock longblock can hang with that all out drag truck. Congrats once again and keep the numbers goin down

6-7k in a SHORT BLOCK??? Is that an aluminum block 5.4??? A built iron blck don't cost that much. More like half that. I think you can get a VT built 5.4 for around $3600-3800. JLP was running a special for $3500 a while back. They may still sell them at that price.
I have about $10,300 invested into my motor/tranny. That includes the Kenne Bell, built tranny, motor, heads, cams, and all bolt-ons that are on the truck. It doesn't take into account all the stock parts I've sold off the truck. I also did all the labor myself with friends. I expect to run 10.80's or so without the help of nitrous at full weight. (around 4700 with me in it)

Hey Frank are you going to run bars through the firewall?? or do what Johnny didwith just the halo bar and front down bars. JL used the factory crossbar up front. I ask because I plan on up grading my bar as well.

As long as you retain the factory firewall, you are not required by NHRA to have the bars through the firewall. That said, I havent done anything yet.
Moving the engine back about 2-3" REALLY is tempting and modifying the firewall will be the only way to achieve that. We'll see what the winter brings.
