Wow....I feel like I have a whole new truck after installing the Ultra Torque cam with the 1.8 roller rockers/dual spring/pushrod package. Thank you! And very friendly on the phone. I am very happy with everything. :drive: :drive:
For anyone who is wondering whether the additional $$ for the rocker kit is worth it....the answer is yes.

I've talked to Roger @ Vinci, they seem like a good group of guys. I was wondering why the Ultra TQ and not the Trucker? I have a similar set-up as you and was told I would want the Trucker over the Ultra TQ. Don't remember why...Maybe the weight difference in our trucks? How did it feel after install, could you tell it in the seat of the pants?

I wanted the Trucker originally, but I tow and have the stock stall, so they recommended the Ultra Torque. If you look at the power band, the Trucker is 2000 to 6200 where the Ultra Torque is 1500-5800. I don't know performance differences, I know the Trucker is stronger up top but you lose some down low, and I couldn't do that.
And yes, I could definitely feel a SOTP difference. I did the cam and springs one day and drove around with the stock rockers, and that put a smile on my face. Then I did the rockers a couple days later, and it put a bigger smile on my face. It was cool to feel the difference that the rockers alone made.

Vinci HP is just down the road from me, if you dont mind how much did you pay out the door, did they install and tune it?

I'd like to know as well. I will be down that way this spring and might get the cam put in while I'm there.

I'm far away...AZ...so I did the work myself. It really wasn't that difficult, but was time consuming because I had never done one before. Probably a total of 22 hours of work or so. I'm sure I could do it much faster now that I have done it once. They cut me a great deal, I think it's ok to post pricing since they are a sponsor, but mods can delete it if not...I was right at $1500 for everything. I got:
Cam
Springs/retainers/seats
Rockers
Pushrods
Valve spring tool
Compressor fitting for pressurizing cylinders
If you price them out individually from their website they are much more expensive. I really enjoyed working with them...very helpful. I would definitely do it again.

The guys at Vinci are definitely stand up, nice guys. They know their stuff, and are absolutely willing to help you out. They've done me right every time I've talked to them, even when it meant I gave money to someone other than them... That's an excellent testimony to their character.
BTW, for those of you wanting to know prices, just give 'em a call or drop by. They will give you the straight poop the first time, and you can walk away knowing the job was done right.
For those of you that care about such things (or think it's a good quality check as I have come to) Vinci's shop is immaculate -- I'd have no problem sitting on the floor of their shop and eating my lunch...

Vinci has a great organization...way under-rated IMO. I've been in touch with them before and the customer service is excellent...not to mention their products really seem to work. They seem to fly by under the radar making great power, especially for daily drivers looking for the best of both worlds.

I agree, Joe and Roger were very helpful when I was making my cam selection, and continue to be in my search for a new cam after I get the new heads on the truck.
I'm not looking to start a flame war over what cam is better, but my "baby" cam stacks up pretty well against some of the bigger, more popular cams used here and my torque curve is flatter than Debra Messing's bustline. Yet for some reason, they get no respect.

yea, I think the ultra tq/rockers are going to do it for me. I CANT sacrifice any bottom end, and the biggest converter I go with is going to be the TB. time for me to give them a call to get my truck there within the next few months..

400 ft-lbs from 2700 to 4700...not too shabby....and my tune needs lots of work too. I'm sure it's great below 2700 as well, but that's the RPM I started the pull at...

I visited Vincis shop last week. Met Roger and Joe. Roger seems to think my Magnacharger should be running at 12.6 to 12.8 AFR. :eek2: What do you guys think of that? And yes, I told him I was pushing 8#'s of boost. Roger still thinks 12.8 with 20* would be a good combo for my truck.

He's right that 12.6 to 12.8 AFR will make big hp numbers, but it doesn't leave any margin for safety. The leanest mixture needed to produce maximum power and highest timing before the thereshold of knock will produce the best performance, but that does not account for running in summer heat and traffic.12 to 1 AFR is probably safe.

When I was topping out at 12.5:1 my 5.3 popped #7. The 6L I just replaced was runnning at 11.6-11.8 and is still broke 4 piston rings. So I dont know whats going on. I just got EFI live and will be looking at my tune, as soon as I figure out how to pull it out:bang: Running 12.6-12.8 in FL in the summer without meth seems like youre begging for trouble. Roger said they do it on vetts all the time.

Not sure if you ahve done this yet are not as this is a little older post...but don't get the TB stall. Its a waste of money. It cost 324$ from teh dealer for a TB stall and you can get a Yank 2600 for 375$
I ahd the TB stall for one day and got rid of it.Its so freakin loose it will drive you crazy. It stalled to about 2400 and flashed to 2600 but just tryin to drive it would roll about 2400 with very little pedal just annoying as hell.
I got a Yank 2600 same stall speed and love it.With normal pedal it never gets above 2k and isnt at all as loose and sloopy feeling as theTB stall.IMO don't waste your time with a TB stall.
