TchargedLS1TA 09-16-2005, 09:45 PM The new Edge Juice Platinum is the way to go for 05 6.0L Powerstrokes- it has up 100 hp and 240 lb/ft gains, tranny control (auto's only), turbo timer, removes speed limiter, reads DTCs, and has EGT and boost control.. one92rs 09-17-2005, 07:40 AM i second the edge juice platinum. it works great. mwalls54 09-18-2005, 01:49 AM The new Edge Juice Platinum is the way to go for 05 6.0L Powerstrokes- it has up 100 hp and 240 lb/ft gains, tranny control (auto's only), turbo timer, removes speed limiter, reads DTCs, and has EGT and boost control.. is that rwhp? TchargedLS1TA 09-18-2005, 11:32 AM Its more closer to flywheel hp.. Probably about 60 hp at the wheels- but definately noticeable gains Faze2183 09-18-2005, 02:13 PM what about intake, and exhuast? TchargedLS1TA 09-19-2005, 01:25 PM MBRP 4" turbo back exhaust and AFE intake system.. Those two will probably give you a 20% increase in a performance Box's power output.. mwalls54 09-19-2005, 07:09 PM Its more closer to flywheel hp.. Probably about 60 hp at the wheels- but definately noticeable gains thats what i was thinking. at one time banks was claiming that their hp gains was to the wheels. its something to look into. AFE makes a good intake along with a few others. i would go with a complete 4" exhaust any thing larger is over kill C.T.D. 09-27-2005, 05:53 AM leave it stock it will blow up, my roomates just did, all he had was programmer and exhaust, the dipstick was welded to the block. stealth03ss 12-16-2005, 07:07 AM friend of mine just traded his 6.0 in. he put a chip in it and 4" turbo back and the antifreeze turned colors (black i think he said?). He told me he had read about the 6.0s not being the best motor to modify. hes got a 7.3 now and runs great getchusum99 01-11-2006, 10:07 PM my freind got a 6.0 with a superchips tuner and k&n intake and magnaflow exhaust, at certain times when he has his big program in, his trucks surges .. stroked 4.8L 01-15-2006, 11:58 AM Better not modify it to much, it will eat it self and die. Ford has had so many problems with that 6.0L, i'm surprised they still sell that piece of junk. With turbo problems, injector problems, mysterious oil leaks, and not to mention how noisy they are, I'm shocked that ford even promotes a diesel engine. getchusum99 01-15-2006, 09:15 PM you need to get your facts straight before you start bashing ford and its products.you are correct on the fact that ford has had some problems with their new diesel. but they have worked out alot of those problems with the 06 , and if you install a program with it and go crazy and try to make it a drag racer, what do you expect. now i have seen no problems at all with a small program/chip. but i know alot of people with trucks with the ford 6.0 diesel and they dont have any complaints. my company truck is a 06 ford f350 fx4 dually with a 6.0 and i aint had no problems with it, plus i work for a ford shop, so i see everything that comes through our shop. so the 06's arent so bad. Same here though the ones I see are the international version, not the greatest engine made, but easy to trouble shoot just need a set of injectors, cam sensor, and a water pump, o and ICP reg and sensor, and you can fix them up. lol Is the 06 going to havethe twin turbo set-up? I know international has a twin V6, but I'm not sure if ford is going to use it. Blown330 01-18-2006, 01:55 PM I've seen a CTD blow the freeze plugs out of it's block with a programmer. Doesn't matter what diesel it is, if you go crazy with one of those boxes you are going to mess something up. Most of the 6.0's problems come from International, as such Ford seems to have cancelled that V-6 diesel from them. Pity too because the first manufacturer to bring a 1/2-ton with a diesel option is going to clean house. Wilde Racing 01-18-2006, 03:06 PM Most of the 6.0's problems come from International, All the problems come from international. International makes all of ford's diesel engines, even the very first N/A power strokes. Leroy_454 01-19-2006, 05:57 PM I've seen a CTD blow the freeze plugs out of it's block with a programmer. Pity too because the first manufacturer to bring a 1/2-ton with a diesel option is going to clean house. GM had the first diesel option in a 1/2 ton truck. They used the 6.2L and 6.5L turbo diesel. :) TchargedLS1TA 01-19-2006, 06:57 PM GM had the first diesel option in a 1/2 ton truck. They used the 6.2L and 6.5L turbo diesel. :) Actually Chrysler put diesels in a handful of trucks, from 1/2 ton flatbeds up to 3 ton convoy trucks back in the 30's.. As for the arguement of who's truck handles the most horsepower... It will all depend on whether or not that SPECIFIC truck is ready for mods.. If you put a 120 hp chip on a beat up POS work truck, of course you're gonna blow shit up. Everyone says that a Cummins head gasket will blow at 50 psi, guess what, mine sees 58 psi everytime I go racing with no o-ring or studs.. Each truck is completely different, and tuning has alot to do with it, just like gas powered engines.. getchusum99 01-19-2006, 09:25 PM ditto.. Tool 01-21-2006, 03:30 PM my neighbor has a 06 F-450 6.0 diesel and its been in the shop for 126 days. not just the motor but the entire truck is a problem. he is filing Lemon Law on this PO:turd: . the next truck is a gonna be a Cummins and the ford has been the biggest let down for this guy. my other neighbor has the 6.0L and loves it, but he is a Ford Fan so that explains it. :hail: blackonblack5.3 01-24-2006, 06:19 PM my friend has the banks 6pak is his 05 f250 6.0l and it hauls ass. beat my 5.3 gmc with intake, programmer, exhaust and gears by a good distance. idk 01-28-2006, 11:08 PM Hi guys I'm new to this site but I;m very involved in powerstroke performance. The banks stuff runs ok but its not the best if you want alot of power the best would be a SCT programer from Innovative Diesel or John Woods Performance. Alot of the problems people have had with hot rod programs in the 6.0 have been attributed to too much injection timing raising the cylinder presure to high and burning pistons and blowing head gaskets the head bolts strech very easy, and the egr cooler and the thermostat making it run to hot (220-250) . The 6.0 has had alot more problems than the 7.3 but the make ALOT more power easier than the 7.3. Roger |
