is the allison tranmission made by ford, or some division that is still connected to ford? I know it sounds crazy but i had a reputable person swear to me that it is true. When he spoke those words my world came crashing down.

I have statement before and also Ford owns the company that makes the Duramax engine, the person that told me this was a die hard Ford fan.

Take a look at Allison Transmission website (http://www.allisontransmission.com/) and look at the bottom of the page, it says "Copyright 2005, Allison Transmission, General Motors Corporation."

I know the Duramax is made by Isuzu, but it seems to me that all the Ford guys say a lot of :turd: to prove the Powerstroke is better than the Duramax.

On wikipedia it says allison is part of gm. On GM's corporate history is says they acquired all outstanding shares of a company called Allison Engineering back in the 1920's.

BOTH ALLISON AND DURAMAX ARE GM !!! And GM OWNS a pretty healthy share of stock in Izuzu that is why they deveolped the engine w/ them. If I remember correctly Izuzu designed the bottom end and GM designed the top end...As a matter of fact FORD USED THE ALLISON AS A REFERENCE TO TRY TO BEAT TO DESIGN THEIR NEW TORQSHIFT 5-SPEED to put in their super duty trucks !!! :secret: Also I read somewhere, Motortrend, Autoweek, etc., that Ford went to GM to help them design a new 5-speed transmission, FWD if my memory serves me...and to step in the other direction GM was using Ford engine blocks to compete in auto racing a year or two ago. It was a big laugh because they were kickin ass and taking names and people were callin the engines "Chevords" etc...

THe torque shift is a joke. Hell the 6.0L powerstroke is a joke. it may run decent but when the problems arouse they never quit. Ford has bought thousands of theem back.

what kind of stuff is happening with the 6.0 powerstroke? Why is ford buying so many of them back?

in todays day and age, i don't necessarily mind U.S. companies banging heads together to make a better product. As long as we can keep Nissan, Honda, and Toyota away from a large percentage of the market share. but that is my U.S. biased opinion. (yes i know the titan is made in the u.s.)

i agree with what you are saying...who cares how it is made as long as a better product is built..right?
