I bought a bare 5.3 block...

What size Forged Piston do I need to order..

What size Forged Rods do I need to order..

Rings? Studs? Bolts?

Good Cam size for a 5.3 with 3000 stall..

I will have my whipple blower transplanted to the new 5.3!

Anything else that would be needed?

I dont want to bore the block or anything...

Just want to make the 5.3 a beast..

I know alot of people are going with 6.0 blocks... But I dont want to do that..

Also... I figured a good set of 6.0 heads with comp 918's and studs!!

That would drop compression to 8.5:1 or 8.6:1 which would be good for a good amount of boost!!

Im not sure if the whipple would be able to make enough boost to make that low of a compression ratio beneficial. Why not go with a 6.0 block?? Pistons and rings etc would be cheaper or at least they were when I originally thought about going that way. I say screw it and go with an aluminum 402. Thats what Im going with. Meth allows you to keep a bit higher CR and still avoid detonation. Im going to be spraying quite a bit despite having a pretty big FMIC.

I would but its more expensive and I just want to keep the 5.3 and run alot of boost on it!

You can find a good 6.0 for what it will cost to build a good forged 5.3.If you decide to build a 5.3 you can be build a 5.7 if you bore to a std. 3.90 5.7 bore but like I said the 6.0 will be cheaper and make more power.

If you want to use the 5.3 block you have do like Whitt said and bore it out to 3.905. That way you can use some off the shelf forged pistons for an LS1. That will probablly cost about the same as having some custom 3.622 pistons made for the stock 5.3 bore.
