Default 99 suburban (falls on her face)

hey guys,
My truck is a 99 sub, with a 5.7 , the problem is anything over 2800-3000 rpms it falls dead on its face and does not pull at all pass there, its done this since i bought it(used) dont know if this is normal for the stock cam? should i be looking at anything known? this really sucks since i live in the hills so climbing hills when the trans kicks down and the rpms come up it wants to slow down
off the line its fine at half throttle but goin WOT does not make it come out any faster...

is my pile just a or is there known remedeys for this?

Do some spring cleaning and clean up the intake manifold a little bit, run some fuel system cleaner after the new filter change(Lucas Oil Fuel system cleaner, 3 bucks for the little bottle to treat 28 gallons), check the air filter... little nit picky stuff, it should be fine. Its not throwing any codes is it? You might want to get it scanned for the hell of it just on the off chance that there is a code and no ses light.

My truck pulls like crazy up there with the same powertrain. Definitely something going on. Does it still have cats? Maybe they are plugged.
