I have gone through numerous tow straps trying to pull people out and am quite tired of wastin gmoney on straps. What has everyone had good luck with. I have broken up to 3 inch wide straps and Im thinking of getting the 4 incher but damn its like a 85 bucks for 20 feet. I dont want chain cause its too heavy and too tough on the drivetrain I need a strap that isnt going to tear my truck apart.

So far i have a Tow strap rated at 20k and its 20 ft..

Broke it the first time trying to pull a buddys dakota out, but it was most of the fault was because of the bumper cutting into it..

Heres a tip to keep that from happening put the loop of the tow strap into the reciever and put the pin through the loop so when you pull stuff the loop doesnt get tight around whatever its anchored to and it wont get cut so all that leaves is for it to be weak like mine and break. Although I did break one trying to pull my dad which he drives a 02 f-350 diesel cclb 4x4 that was buried to the frame needless to say it wasnt going anywhere but I though I would try.

I've broken numerous straps. The best for pulling someone/thing out is a chain, but I keep a strap in my truck, not the chain. I usually grab the chain for the tough jobs though. ie. tractors are heavy, and most of the time I get stuck its pretty bad :eyes: I really need to just get a winch. It just looks goofy at the track :jest:

Get a front reciever with the warn multimount winch system thats what Im probably going to get after all the performance mods.

Yea but he had the gay hitch in bumper thing, so i hooked it to his frame.

Got to keep your straps clean. When they get dirty and then dry the sand and shit in there will start cutting the nylon threads. Also never try yanking with a strap, they'll snap almost every time. Only made for pulling. I buy what ever is on sale at walmart and they usually last me a few years, just clean them off after they get muddy.

Hell thats what I use straps for is for the bungee cord affect most of the time it will just snatch them right out but if it doesnt they uasually break.

Most straps give you the bungee effect. When you pull the strap will stretch a bit and it will help "slingshot" the stuck truck out

Yea, I've seen it, wouldn't trust it. Its not very big. Also driving over your strap isn't good for them eigthor :bomb:

number one dont use chains not a good idea at all. and i use a 4" strap from tsc lasted me about two years hasn't broke yet but its seen its better days. the one i have seems to work good for fullsize trucks dont break when you jurk with it but still has give to it to give it the bungy affect. and its going to be around 80 or 90 bucks for the one i have.

25ft nylon rope with a 1.5" diameter loops on both ends. If that doesnt work I use to have a 25ft choker for pulling out big things :D (I ran a water truck and use to get stuck 5-6 times a day and slide into 3-4ft ditches)...

I have 2.5" x 30' Amsteel blue rope, rated at 588,000 lbs. It is pretty much breakproof.

I have always kept both in the truck, one chain and one 3"x30' strap. yeah the chain might be a little heavy and takes up a little more space but it has never failed. i keep it in a small bag so it dont get anything it touches nasty. the strap is for just pulling something that is unstuck.
