Default 5.3 to LS6 swap questions?

Ok guys, have a question. I am thinking about buying the ls6 longblock and using the intake and accessories off of my 5.3 to finish the project. Will everything work off of the 5.3 to get the ls6 running. I am also planning on buying a tune from Nelson performance. In this situation would I use the corvette oil pan or the camaro oil pan? How about injector size? Any information that y'all could give to help out on this swap would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys! Also, I have the option of buying the 6.0 and putting it in. If the 6.0 would be better, then voice your opinions on it as well. Thanks!

Everything will swap over just fine. Re-use the truck injectors and oil pan. As far as the 5.7 vs 6.0, that's really up to you. Some like the lighter aluminum blocks and others prefer the cubic inches.

Thanks for the help. What happened is I hydrolocked my engine in a bad rain last week so with the insurance money I'm trying to figure out an engine combination. I think I've sold myself on the ls6 long block with the accessories and everything from the 5.3. If this will work then it should produce some pretty good gains over the 5.3 and should make me one very happy white boy : )

Your insurance is paying for your engine? are you serious?

where are you located? i have a short block i'm willing to sell. needs a piston and has a small scratch in the cylinder wall from the broken piston ring. i'll even throw in a truck oil pan, oil pick up and intake. i decided i'm just going to put the heads on the 5.3L and go FI.

The truck intake manifolds are designed for low end torque production, not high rpm's so I would suggest using the ls6 manifold to take advantage of those higher rev's. Not to mention truck manifolds are ugly!

You Would Hurt Yourself More Than Help With The Ls6 Intake You Have To Remember You Are A Truck 4000+lbs Not A Car @ 3000 Lbs. My Truck Intake Pull Me All The Way To 7400 @ Times And Ask Snake Eater He Also Pulls His Motor High In Rpms I Don't Know What Intake He Has.
With My Truck Stock Intake And Injectors,i Shift On A 6800 Chip And Cross @ 6700 To 6800. Has To Work Good For Me To Be Able To Make A 12,59 Pass With A 1.64 60' On A All Bolt On Cam Only Truck.

You will need to use the truck oil pan and pickup tube if the engine is going into a truck. The pans will mount on any of the motors themselves, just won't fit the crossmembers of the different models.
I also agree with litreddevil, don't waste time adapting the LS6 intake manifold if you get one. Low to no gains and you will be forced to use parts from the LS6 like water pump, tensioner pulley, etc. ( the LS6 intake is lower and the TB will interfere with the belt drive ).

Ditto, not a good idea on a truck. Keep your truck intake and look into investing in some tad bigger injectors some time. I thought about an LS1 for a while bt decided on a 6.0. Choice is up to you. Nice thing about the 6.0 is its torquey down low. Cam in an LS6 will rip up high but wont have an assload of needed TQ down low which you want in a heavy 2 or 4wd truck.
