I just turned 16 and am going to get my dad's 2003 Cummins. I would like to know what are some good performace upgrades to start with for speed and towing power. Also, brand names and prices if you can tell me. Help is appreciated.

I know the edge programmer is pretty badass. My friend has it on his d-max and its nice. He has 5 levels of programming and it has a nice hand held display.Im not sure on the price.

Edge in my op is the best thing that ever happen to Diesels, i have an Edge Box on my dodge and i love it, just go to www.Edgeproudcts.com , i would start out (depending on how much money you got to work with) a Edge Box, then you NEED a Cold Air intake, to get the required air in with the edge. theneither a 4'' or 5'' exhaust, then injectors, with that set up your already in the 14s in the 1/4 if not better,
btw is this an Auto or stick?

ok its an auto, then the first mod you need to do is a tq converter and a pyrometer, that is the absoulte first things you need, i dont care what anyone says. then a cold air and edge box, and exhaust and youll have plenty of power, but i cant stress enough that you need to do the converter and pyro first.

edge only makes 70 hp?
pacific makes 215hp. i think i would spend just a little bit more money and get the pacific. for the 04.5-05 trucks they got one that makes 300hp and 470 ft-lbs of torque.

the edege juice with attitude combo makes 125hp, but with that you have the attitude monitor wich has all you gauges and setting in one lil box.
but even if he got the pacific he would most deffently need a aftermarket converter.
he can also do and edge box and Super chips tuner that would be alot of power right there

and btw, this is off the pac site "HP/Torque: Additional 215HP and 325 Ft.-lbs of Torque max at the flywheel."
yeah it makes alot of power At the Flywheel! the edge ratings are at the rear wheels, with my edge box and a cold air im pushin 455hp to the wheels

your not losing 100 hp thru drivetrain loss though. if you stack yours and make 125 at the wheels im sure that pacific will make at least 175 at the wheels. and you dont really need a converter, its just if you want one really. my uncle has a duramax with 2 chips stacked on top of each other and the only thing done to the tranny is a shift kit. been like that for about a year.

yeah but were not talking about a duramax, im talking from experince with a dodge here, i blew my converter with just a chip and cold air, in a dodge there just not strong.

How much do you want to spend? The more power you get, the more things your going to have to prepair for that power. Case in point, if you get a box that adds more then 100hp, you will need to improve the stock fuel system, and have the tranny ready as well. I have a full buillet DTT tranny (the only way to go IMHO) and I don't
I would be very werry of that box that adds over 200hp. Concidering that the 2 most well known boxes only add about 140hp, and this one is claiming 300 I would be willing to bet that they are not telling you that with the addition of injectors, and a bigger turbo this would be what it adds.
If you add the fuel needed to make 500 hp, but not the air, it will smoke a hell of a lot more then that video did.

You forgot the injectors listed in your sigg. :)

So your telling me you did 455 with simply a comp box and an afe at the rear wheels?
Something is not making cents because if you take the stock output from a truck of your year 245, and add 140 (comp box) then we get 385. An intake might add about 10hp at your level, and push you up to 400 on a good cool day without it being to humid. Exhaust adds 0 hp until you start to get near the 525hp range.
Where did you find that other 50 hp, and can I have some too!! :) :secret2:

I have also heard that the dodges need a converter before any serious mods.
