Anybody know of some free or cheap performance mods for the 360 magnum???

Relocate IAT sensor, TPS sensor mod, Home port your throttle body by taking those raised up pieces off around the venturi's off, spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, MSD ignition,

There are some others depending on how cheap your talking about

I didnt relocate the IAT sensor but I put a resistor on it to make the ECU think its getting cooler air. Whats involved in the TPS sensor mod? I guess cheap to me would be anything under 100 bucks.

You'll need either a multimeter (okay) or a DRB (best) or a generic scant tool that can read the tps sensor volts will work. You want to drill out the sleeves in the tps bolt holes so you can move the tps a lil to both sides while its mounted up. Turn the key to on and use ur dmm, or scanner to check tps volts, youll want to move the sensor until you get .72-.74 without touching the gas pedal. then put some small washers on to give it more surface to bite on, then tighten it up and re-check. This mod will give you better throttle response off idle.

I'd watch the resistor trick. Depending on what ohm resistor you use, it will determine what temp it see's. The Relocating it lets it see a cooler temp in the intake. I seen a list of the Resistor to temp conversions but i forget where i seen it. I'd have to do a huge hunt to see if i could find it again.

And the resistor will always give the PCM the same reading hot or cold. Relocating gives the PCM a normal linear range of operating temps to work with, but they are just cooler temps, little more power. Ditch the AC, runa shorter belt, lose weight from the truck (bumper bracket braces, insulation, spare tire, jack, etc etc), and get the fuel synch set, make sure timing chain is good, and plenum gasket is good, and play with tire pressures.

I think I might take your advice WyKdrt and ditch the resistor(by the way I bought it off e-bay). How far did you place your IAT sensor from the intake manifold?

Here's some free mods, not sure what they gain and I haven't personally done any except the TB bypass.

I placed my AIT right behind the K&N heatshield in the FIPK tube. You'll need a 1/4 NTP pipe thread plug for the original hole in the manifold. I wouldn't recommend leaving that resistor in there. The computer uses the AIT to adjust off of the baselines for both fuel and spark.

Like if it thinks its coler outside, it will add more fuel (for the denser air) and more spark(since its colder outside there is less chance of detonation) If its 105+ out and your computer thinks its 30, and u run regular fuel, there is a potential timming advance problem there.

Thanks WyKdrt, I think I'll be doing this next weekend!

Well I couldnt wait any more, so I changed it last night and got rid of the resistor. I noticed more of a difference than the resistor.

I'm using the AirRam Power Wire, it's the IAT mod. Nick (AirRam) says the resistor in the wire is a 20* difference than ambient. According to his testing, anything with a bigger temp difference is actually bad for performance. In my long term testing (two tanks of gas and G-tech 0-60 & 1/4 mile runs), the PW made my truck quicker by .08 seconds. Not alot but it all adds up, I also relocated the IAT sensor to the airbox for a cooler reading.
