My uncle has installed 285/75 R16's in his 2003 Crew cab with the Duramax/Allison combo. Since then he has lost power and mileage(part of that is due that they didn't reprogram his computer for the larger tires). He is getting around 13-16, but even new, it never got over 17 unloaded on the interstate. Which programmer would give him back the power he has lost and a little more and increase mileage slightly?

Edge Juice if he wants alot of power with some economy, or Preditor which is alot cheaper and makes simular gains. The preditor has less fun options like selecting your level on the fly, but it can add I believe 125hp and 200+tq.

Also if he wants milage he should look into a 4" turbo back and intake. The freer they breath the better they work, and the better milage they get. Warpspeedperformance has a 4" turbo back kit for $260. Pretty cheap and sounds nice!

we've had great success with selling the hypertech units at work for the duramax. they don't seem to gain much on anything else, but on the duramax they gain about 2-4 mpg and are a very noticable power gain on top of it.

Thanks Zippy, Hypertech is the only name he really knows, so it probably be what he goes with.

I have seen good results with both the hypertech and the edge box.

I have had a Predator on all 3 of my Duramax trucks (2 LB7's and 1 LLY). My 3/4 ton 4x4 ext cab ran an 8.80 in the 1/8 with just the Predator and no muffler. Shoot me a pm if you are interested in one. There are alot of other options most all the programmers make enough power to put the Alli into limp mod so be careful if yours is stock.

Is the hypertech a multistage programmer, meaning does it have different HP settings?

Also, I know this is the :wrongforu ,but does anyone know how to get more power of a DT466 cat diesel. I have one in my 2000 International and it is only rated at 190 HP and 485 ft lbs. Other ones are rated at up to 230/615.

Isn't the DT466 an international motor?

I had the Hypertech, it's great for people that don't have much $$$ & don't need crazy power. I now have a Edge & like it for what it is, can't go wrong with the tranny protection & gauges on the attitude.

The DT is a Navistar engine. For the DT466, head to an International dealership. Have them check to see that they have the HP settings all the way up. They will pop a computer on it and see. Usually when those trucks roll off the line they turn all that stuff up. But receiving buyers turn them back down to meet insurance company requirements. There really isnt any programmers for the DT466 or HT530 other than the MD Fleet software. Edge makes a programmer for the CAT 3126 and thats it for a big bore. Bully Dog makes some stuff for Deere diesels too. But thats all I can think of.

Thank you, it was a Penske rental truck, so they may have had it turned down for that. I am also going to have the top speed limiter cut up to 75 instead of 66.
