Dude looks pretty good for any shade-tree mechanic!!! I have worked on alot of old motors with my dad and friends, they made a big deal about having the right radiator for the motor, but whats the big deal with electric fans?

electric fans get rid of the clutch and all of its heavy rotating mass. Saves alot of weight and alot less drag on the motor. Some kits claim 30hp gain and some mpg gain. I can hardly tell they are on my 03L but the its the same kit i took off my 97 4.6 and it did help the mpg and power a lil. I have the flex a lite twin 15 in kit.

one04fx4,
you said ur workin on a tuner right? On another board one tuner keeps stressing watchin what cold air kit you put on your 04-up . He keeps sayin that the kits lean out the truck way too much.

yes sir he is the very one that says not to use aluminum in an intake system. it has to much heat soak. he is saying that the plastic or steel have the beteer advantage in intakes. also i think that the placement of the pass air sensor has some to do with it. if you have ever looked in an airaid--it is only 1 1/2 inche clearance where the mass air mounts for air to go across it. i havent seen the af1 in person yet. but i would love to look into the tube to see that restriction. he is also the same on that says they adjust the tunes to keep the light from coming back on. so. i can run an aluminum intake that will heat soak and lose power (which a simnilar set up and the chevies i have raced worked near perfect) or spend 300.00 on an intake and 500.00 on a tune not to have a light come on. hhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. since i am not racing the wind i think i will stay this way for now.

very nice lance. These clutch fans are horrible. let me know about what fans and stuff that you use for the elec. install.
Quite interesting. I am still pondering having my shop built a shortblock.. clean the 4.6 heads up and turbo'ing my shit :secret2:

oh in no way did you strike a nerve buddy. i know that most manufacturers now use plastic. on the industrial engines we all use aluminum. i can tell you that the steel tubes are only on aftermarket intakes. they say that it doesnt have heat soak. bs in my opinion. if heat were the main discussion then why are almost all engines going to aluminum? heat dissapation is what i think. heck man i dont know yuet what everything is doing. i wish i knew someone around here that had a way to scan it for me to see.
