On the highway last night i was messing around with my buddy in his stock with exhaust Gt mustang. Going about 40 i put it in second and he was in 3rd pushing around 2 and we both nailed it. Outcome was he had 1 1/2 lengths on me.

:werd: 40 is not the best spot to race from a roll. 25 or 30 mph would have been way better since the tranny upshift to 1st gear and zooooooooom. :hail:

Are you still running a stock tune? You might be able to shift into first manually on the column at 40mph...thats about my limit that I can downshift at. Im turning it to 6500 rpms in most gears tho with my tune... and my shift points are slightly wider than stock.

Go race him again from a dig and stall it up... should be a close match :) Good run tho

If you put your truck in tow haul mode it will jump to first at 40 mph. Just found that out the other night.

Most of the guys you just "bashed" in this thread have JUST started modding their vehicles... there are an abundant amount of those who mod f-bodys, y-bodys, stangs, and what have you... but us truck guys KNOW that it takes some cash to get these big ole things rolling.. no one was directing anything at Mustangs in this thread, and if they were, it was all in joking... but if you want to turn it into a pissing match we can... your in the wrong place to be talking down to guys like us. If I wanted a 13 sec vehicle... STOCK i would have bought what millions of other owners are modding right now... a Camaro, a Cobra mustang, Viper etc. But no... some of us want to see what we can do in our trucks... I was just stating that its funny muy 5200+ truck hangs with a 5.0 and with a tune im sure i could take him.

"He" drives a dakota R/T hence the screen name. They are not slow by any means. But he does have a point, you'll need some mods in a full size truck to hang with newer GTs. Hell my midsize is still a half second behind my buddy's stock auto GT (14.8 to 14.3)

5.0 Stangs are easy for the most part. Until you run into the one that's more than flowbastards and a K&N....
