i think the voting is really messed up. scott rolen gets the start at third and he has been on the DL most of the season, while ensberg is having a career year and does not even get on as a reserve. that is really screwed up.

But all of Baseball has been wierd this year, I guess that is what happens when nobody is on juicing.

Did I mention Oswalt....10-3 2.54 era and the National League's ONLY 20 game winner last year!!!!!! Allstar games are supposed to be about the best players, not players who are washed up (Mike Piazza) and who spend most of the season on the DL. I hope when Clemes comes in, he makes up for laste years debocle and pitches a shutout inning, the the AL whips the shit out of Tony Larusa.

Couldnt have said it better myself. It should be about the best players, not the most popular ones. One of the good things about being a fan is to vote for your favorite players, but some of this is absolutely ridiculous. I think they should have an outside panel, (maybe sportscasters) choose the teams.

I think they should have an Fan favorite team and ALL the managers pick the team, not just one. Is MLB that freaking stupid to think it will drive fans away. I think the format they have now does more harm than good. Now that the home field advantage is on the line, it needs to be taken a little more seriously.

i agree with what your saying greg. i think it should be the players that are putting up the best numbers. not the big names.

but isnt it like that even in little league?????
it's all in who your parents are, and what they do for the league, than it is for how the players are actually playing.
I umpire here at home, and I am amazed at who they nominate for the City Little League Allstar team..
It's all politics, and who can, and will bring in the "MONEY"!
sorry, I know this wasnt exactly what you guys where talking about, but, I feel it started off at a lower level, and has worked it's way up.

Yes, your statements are mostly true and that's why I'm  about it. The media sure is bitching about the snub also. BTW, our little league won't let the allstar team manager or his coaches vote.

Yeah same here,
but if you are a big enough kiss ass to the board of directors, your child is pretty much a shoe in..
it's amazing that some of the parents just dont realise this.
:eek2:
as for the MLB Allstar game(s)
I quit watching along time ago...
It's not about who's playing anymore, it's about the money..
thats why I like college ball, and even that is getting messed up now...
oh well......
theres allways racing ;)
