Welcome, great lookin' truck there. One of my buddies has a 2001 RCSB R/T. I don't think he gets on here a whole lot though. I'm sure he'll have some questions for you.

What do you use for tunning on that beast?

Right now I have two aux injectors controlled by a Split Second box that only come on under boost, and I'm running 36# injectors controlled by an Apexi SAFC-II. Need 30# injectors tho, running too rich down low. One of these days I'll do it right and get a standalone.

Looks like i'm the newest member to the truck forum. hopefully this place won't get over run with flamers...anyway, HI!!

the name's Corey, i live in Greensboro, NC. I drive a 1998 Dodge Dakota R/T. I've done a bunch of crap to it, but it is still slow ( hence the screen name ;) .) Hopefully this place'll have some useful info for everyone. seems to be pretty cool so far.

Well, here's another R/T.

My names Zach and I drive a 1999 Dakota R/T Clubcab and live in Minnesota. The truck only has a few mods, and im still in the 15's, so nothing to brag about now. Any other Minnesota people on here?

I'll butt in and join the short, but growing list of dodges....I own a 2002 Blk CC R/T, pretty much stock except for a 52mm TB, catback exhaust, and K&N intake. Ran a best of 15.3 @88mph back in May with just the intake and TB.

I had a 00' ext cab R/T before my Silvy i have now. Maybe you guys can tell me what was wrong with it. When i got it at a year and a half old (used) it was 100% stock with low miles. I always loved the way they looked and sounded so i got one. Man was it SLOW stock.

Since stock sux I got the 300hp Mopar PCM, K&N FIPK w/ram air, shorty headers, gutted cats, flowmaster 3" catback. With all these mods it was a little faster and sounded mean as hell. Bad part is it fell on its face above 3k rpms, and shifted on its own at 4k under WOT. I had to shift it myself if i wanted to race.

The final blow with my R/T was when i raced a friend with a 95' Integra with 170,000 miles on it. The only mods he had was a cold air intake and ricer muffler. I had all of the above. Long story short, i beat him off the line but once i hit 3k he passed me and kept leaving me. I was so pissed i lost to a pretty much stock ricer I went in the next day and got rid of the R/T.

R/T's are tricky, you have to have the right combo to get 'em to run good. The biggest thing I can see you were missing is an M1 intake manifold, the stock beer barrel just doesn't flow enough, that's why it was falling on it's face after 3K rpm. The Mopar PCM should have been shifting at 52-5400, probably could have fixed that with a little tv cable adjustment. There's a ton of guys running 13's all motor now, they've got the combos pretty much figured out. My truck only ran 15.3 stock, and it's a regular cab. They've got potential just have to throw some money at 'em and get the right combo.

Yea, i didnt find out about the intake till after i got rid of it. LOL

My ext cab Silvy ran 14.7 with 3" pipe in place of the muffler and a K&N drop in. Total of $60. I was sold.

I still like the low end balls of the R/T for towing, but racing I just didnt know enough at the time i had it.

A decent throttle body, the Mopar M1 2bbl intake manifold, some 1.7r rockers, and mid or long tube headers instead of the shorties would have increased its pulling power, most often that bolt-on combo will let the R/T run with Mustang GT's/etc. If your WOT shifts were at 4k rpm's then either your TV cable was way out of adjustment or your transmission's valve body needed replacement.

Your silver R/T looks sweet. :D If I only knew then what I know now. I had one buddy that had an 02' with a 100 shot that ran 13.7's. With a vortech SC at 8psi he ran 13.8's. I just wasnt impressed then, but his was mostly stock other than the blower.

One thing I did hate though about my R/T was the so called rear seat. I couldnt fit a car seat back there. Not that i wanted dirty little kids riding with me. Nothing worse than pulling up next to a hot chick in a hot truck and her seeing the car seat while you give them that smile. :emb:

Gotta open up the flow for the blower. I ran 11.8/9 on the stock bottom end/stock cam with heads & boltons w/my intercooled Paxton (in really cold weather, now I'm 11's in the heat, can't wait for this fall  ).

If you can pick up 5 more mph you may knock off a 10.9x.

Ever thought about spraying it with a 50hp shot? That may get you there.

Those are good numbers all motor. What engine mods do you have and how do you tune for it?

You knew it was just a matter of time! hehehe

I took the Dakota to the track last friday to "play". Traction was non-existant. I shoulda known better than to try and go with just my street tires.

So when are you coming back to "visit"? It's only been in the 110's lately - perfect racing weather! hahaha

Ah, not really, crank numbers. LOL

I don't tune at all right now, I just pray to the truck Gods. LOL Really, I don't even have custom tune on the PCM, I'm giving up mucho power as of right now but want to get rid of the stock heads, RRs, tranny, etc before I do a custom tune, even just a custom PCM.

If I can get it to the ground, she may crack off a 10 with the new cam and stall. Don't want to spray cause I'm only running hyper pistons. If I do a forged stroker, I'll spray it :)

Tryin' to snag a house down there is near impossible... they don't stay 'for sale' longer than a day or so. I'm really not lookin' forward to that kinda heat... but it's so humid here the sweat factor is miz'rable. One of these day's we'll get lucky I s'pose.
