My brother has a 99 Tahoe LT, don't ask which engine, it's a V8. He says that he has to press the pedal alot more to accelerate now. What could it be? Fuel filter, air filter, throttle body? It sounds to me like something's clogged.
Help is appreciated.

That is a pretty general question, check them all. I hope he still doesn't have the original air filter in there. I suggest changing paper filters out every other oil change, because they are relitively cheap. If is a K&N or something, I clean mine on the same schedule. Check the fuel filter. Pull the fuse on the fuel pump and start her up and run it out of gas before pulling or you will get a gas shower. What kind of miles and mods are on there? Get the engine size also.

 

No mods. Just a K&N. He's actually dropping the truck off tommorrow. I'll let you know!

Fuel pumps were a notorious problem on Tahoe's and Suburban's.

Although this problem would show up primarily when trying to start the truck, once it was running, they should be fine and rely in the injectors drawing up fuel.

But it could be the case where lack of fuel pressure provided by the pump and the injectors arn't strong enough to pull it up under duress.

 

Another possibility could be a clogged cat(s). Definetly change the fuel filter.

All 96-99 Tahoes have 350 Vortec motors.
