Default How to access speakers in the doors?

I'm hoping I don't have to pull the door panels off, but I won't be surprised if I do. One of the speakers in my driver's-side door is loose and rattling against the speaker grill. You'd think that GM would be smart and give us access to the speakers by popping the grill cover off. I tried to pop it off, but I didn't want to force it. Will I have to pull the door panel off?

I have my smaller of the two speakers on my passenger door that feel out of its position also. I looked at how to fix it and I am worried that I'll have to remove the door panel also.

Sorry guys, the panels have to come off. The grills have tabs about 1/2" long and are difficult to get out from the front and won't go back in properly without removing the panels to fold the tabs back down. The panels come off fairly easy. There are 3 torx head screws to remove. One on the bottom, one just inside the the grab handle and one under the power window/lock panel that pops off. Once these are removed, lift up on the panel and pull up and out. One of the speakers is attached to the panel. You will have to finagle the door handle through the hole and unplug the door panel light and speaker to remove completly. The little triangle piece at the top of the panel near the mirror need to be popped off also to remove the panel. When going back on, just use your eyes to make sure you have the tabs all lined back up.

You have to pull off the panel. Don't even try to remove the screen. It has tabs that will bend and it will never fit correctly again.

There are screws just under the pull handle, and under the pockets. Also, you can pop off the handle's plastic cover (where window controls are) and the triangular part adjacent to the mirror.

Beware, to replace the speakers correctly, you will have to fab up supports as the stock speakers are in a cheap plastic GM clip.

Greg - I'm gonna have to bring my Z71 down to houston and run all over your 4.8 <img border="0" alt="[fight]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_punch.gif" />

I'll be quicker with my typing next time.
