Default Procharger vs. whipple ?

I'm trying to decide on which one to buy
The supercharger is going to be installed on my 99 gmc sierra 4.8l daily driver
Anybody have a procharger or Whipple ?
the procharger is capable of runnin more boost
8-9 psi up to 12psi
where the whipple runs 6psi i think
Any help is much appreciated

I think you should go with the Whipple. The key thing in your post that makes me say that is the phrase "daily driver"

The whipple will build all the boost almost instantly which will be real nice with a heavy truck. You have to run lower boost levels with the Whipple because its non-intercooled but the instant boost is very nice. The low boost will be safer for pump gas also. My friend has a '00 Dakota with a Kenne-Bell(Whipple) running 8# and as soon as he hits the gas the boost is there.

I have a procharger on my car and unless you are going to run 8-9+psi you won't see much boost thru the midrange. I wouldn't feel safe running that much boost on a stock motor for a daily driver. The procharger will make more peak power at the exspense of midrange at the same boost levels.

Its better to have the bottom end and midrange on a truck (IMO) so I would go with the Whipple.

My $.02

I have a Whipple on my 99' 5.3 with 66,000 miles now, about 6,000 miles with the Whipple, and I have had no problems. I am running 6 psi at wide open throttle and about 6.5 to 7 psi on the shifts. I love mine and even half throttle acceleration is fun.

Thje Whipple does a great job - works accross the range - it is nice just having power whenever you step on it.
