Melted cats......meow!!!
#1
ok, seriously. I've been having a problem with my truck feeling sluggish lately and my boost won't go above 7lbs, should be around 11lbs. I called whipple and Steve says I definately melted my cats and that is causing a blockage somewhere and i'm gonna blow up my engine. He says that's the ONLY thing that could be the cause. Anyone have any experience with that?

A guy on the SS site had the same issue last year. I forgot what brand blower he had. I think his drivers side stock cat melted then caused high backpressure. He did end up with engine damage.
I know my exhaust temps increased when I installed my blower. I was running aluminum header flange gaskets. They melted on the first day I ran the truck hard testing the blower.
I really suggest that you spend a few bucks on your exhaust. Run the front pipes into an X-pipe, then install your new cats behind the X. This will equalize flow between cats, lower exhaust temps, and still provide flow through one if the othrt gets clogged. If you can afford it, you should install metallic substrate cats instead of the typical ceramic brick cat. They will flow better and are made of stainless steel internals so they won't melt.
